Webby Award-night: ‘Me me me me me’
With winners limited to five words, comedian Stephen Colbert (humbly?) accepted his prize for best person by saying: ‘Me me me me me.’

There was no need for humility on this evening. Comedian Stephen Colbert, receiving the prize for best person and holding the trophy over his head, followed the rules to the letter in declaring simply: “Me me me me me.”

But these pictures are super special because she really is a huge fan of Stephen Colbert. One of her HuffPo posts was actually used during Stephen’s Webby presentation. So way to go, Rachel! Stephen Colbert, in a moment of rest (actually, in a moment of irritation at having his dinner interrupted by the awkward girl from the Huffington Post asking clumsily for a picture when really she wanted to say “Stephen! It’s Rachel! Remember that time when I wrote about your WristStrong bracelets?”) Er, sorry for interrupting your dinner.
Triumph! Colbert accepts his Webby. (Yes, that was five words.) (So was that. It was!)

Stephen Colbert accepting his award / AP, ReutersPOLITICAL satirist Stephen Colbert has accepted the Webby Award’s Person Of The Year gong with a traditional five-word acceptance speech of: “Me, me, me, me, me.”
The Webby Award presentations are currently underway at a ceremony in New York where amateur YouTube celebrities rub shoulders with famous musicians and media personalities to collect the internet’s top honours.
Each year Webby Award winners are limited to giving an acceptance speech of just five words, leading to some memorable quotes and cringe-worthy jokes.

But perhaps the best taunt of the night was left to the staff of The New York Times website, who used their speech to thank former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.
“Eliot Spitzer we thank you,” was the team’s speech.

Way to celebrate yourself (and sing yourself), Stephen!

This evening Stephen Colbert was presented with the Webby Special Achievement Award: Person of the Year. In keeping with the Webby tradition, he gave a five word speech that went a little something like this:
