G’day Zoners, I hope you’ve all been enjoying the Winter Olympics. I for one have become obsessed with all things ice related – Speed Skating, Figure Skating, Curling and Ice Hockey. A great obsession to have smack bang in the middle of an Australian summer. I of course blame Stephen for my new found love of winter sports. For those of you able to tear yourselves away from all things ice and snow, Stephen’s friends have some exciting upcoming projects for you to check out.

Have you ever wanted to carry Mark Malkoff across Manhattan? Well Friday’s your chance!
Posted by: | CommentsFriend of the blog Mark Malkoff has done some wacky stunts in his day. He’s drank a WHOLE lot of coffee, lived in an Ikea, and even lived on a plane for a month. But this one seems to be the most surreal piece of performance art yet!
Here’s the scoop, according to MarkMalkoff.com:
Can you lift 130 pounds? Do you live in or near NYC? Are you free 12/18? Then have we got an adventure for you!
For the holidays I want to disprove to the world the myth that New Yorkers are unfriendly. I’m going to do that by transporting myself from the southernmost end of Manhattan roughly 13.57 miles to the very most northern end of the island by only having people in New York physically carry me the entire way. I’m guessing it’ll take a day and a half.
Date: This Friday December 18, 2009 [That's tomorrow!!]
Start: 7:30am outside the entrance to the Staten Island Ferry
Route: We will be going up Broadway
Finish: tdb The top of Manhattan by Broadway Bridge near 220st & BroadwayI desperately NEED everyone’s help. Please spread the word to your friends in NYC and tell them to carry me! Individuals can carry me two feet or two blocks. I’ll take anything. Luckily I only weigh 130 pounds. For people that can’t carry me by themselves, please bring your friends and you can all carry me together.
To find my exact location this coming Friday there are two ways:
1. check my Twitter @mmalkoff
2. Starting Friday morning call the “Mark Gets Carried in NYC” hotline at (646) 308-1262 and ask for meThanks in advance for everyone’s help. Let’s show the world that New York is the greatest city in the world!
If you can’t be there, but want to follow his progress, he will be Twittering frantically all day. Let’s all support Mark by getting out there and, well, um, picking him up for a bit. Or at least retweeting some of his more awesome moments during the day. And, as always, you rock, Mark!

Mark Malkoff continues his journey to collect Keys to the City
Posted by: | CommentsFilmmaker, avant garde comedian, and fantastically sweet guy Mark Malkoff is on the third week of his adventure to collect 100 keys to the city all over the eastern United States. He’s up to 62 keys as of this evening, and he’s made it all the way from New York to Florida to Michigan! In exchange for each key Malkoff receives, he is having mayors assign him small acts of community service. For example Lancaster, PA Mayor Richard Gray had Malkoff clean up after police horses. (Oh yeah, there’s video of that.) Fairfax, VA Mayor Robert Lederer had Malkoff swim in the town fountain to collect coins. Tampa, FL Mayor Pam Iorio had Malkoff volunteer at a kids afterschool program.
Here’s my fave vid so far. It amuses me that not only is this a grown man running down the street in an ice cream costume, but he had to be seen in the outfit by his lovely bride, Christine, who is accompanying Mark on his journey. God bless him, he’s just one of the silliest people I know.
Also, don’t forget to check out MarkMalkoff.com for even more videos!

Mark Malkoff’s new project announced – and he’s got a really big keychain ready
Posted by: | CommentsGreat news, Zoners! Those of you who continue to follow the exploits of friend of the blog Mark Malkoff are aware that he has a new project starting tomorrow. Well, we’ve gotten a sneak peak, and it looks like another fantastic adventure.
Yes, folks, he’s headed on a quest to get 100 keys to cities all over the country, in his lovely Ford Fusion hybrid. The first leg of the tour, which will be posted soon on MarkMalkoff.com, will include Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia.
For his first day of the tour tomorrow, Mark will be in Central Pennsylvania, meeting with eight mayors – including Harrisburg Mayor Stephen Reed, Lancaster Mayor Richard Gray, York Mayor John Brenner, and several others. In exchange for the key to the city each mayor will assign Malkoff a task to help out their individual town. So that should be fun!
You can follow Mark on Twitter, or friend him on Facebook, which I would highly recommend to get the experience which can only be described as the Full Malkoff. He would also love assistance if anyone happens to know any mayors out there who might be willing to give a key for a little public service.
