Hey, Zoners! Everybody having a splendid week so far? This zeitgeist will be a bit of a catch-up, with a few new items to balance the old ones that were starting to accumulate a little dust. Today we have another article on Stephen’s Catholicism, a drinking contest that didn’t happen, a special appearance by Ozzy Osbourne that has nothing to do with the Rally, and a chance to vote for Stephen to win something.
Detailed Schedule for Rally to Restore Sanity And/Or Fear

While the official venues may not be revealing the outlined schedule for the Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear, the Christian Science Monitor was able to get all kinds of wonderful details, courtesy of the National Parks Service permit, including when Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will take the stage.
Update on the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear: Permit granted
UPDATED BELOW WITH RALLY SCHEDULE
Hey, kids, it’s time to start getting madly excited about the rallies, because it’s now really, truly official: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the permit for the joint Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert rally has been approved. There’s a bit of info on a couple of the guests, too, so do give the item a quick skim.
Stephen Colbert in the Zeitgeist – October 23, 2010
Greetings, Zoners! I hope you’re all having a splendid weekend, and getting ready for the rally. I know I’ve got a busy week ahead of me because, God willing, I’ll be at the rally myself, helping to restore America’s sanity and/or fear. But we’ve got a week of new shows to get through before we even get to the rally, and there’s been a bit of news piling up in my inbox, so let’s take a look at what’s happening out in the world of Colbert news. I’ve got a few items relating to both the rally and the Report‘s fifth anniversary, evidence of the Colbert bump in action, and an entire multimedia section. Here’s your zeitheist zeitgeist for October 23rd.
Video: Stephen Colbert on ‘The View’

UPDATED BELOW
Hey, y’all. Stephen Colbert, as you may recall, was scheduled for his debut appearance on The View this morning, and he was his usual charming self. Although I haven’t yet seen full video show up online yet (we’ll update the post as it becomes available), E! Online has posted the clip of Stephen teasing Whoopi for her O’Reilly walkout.
And that brings us to tonight’s WØRD: Truthiness

As we celebrate the five year anniversary of the ‘Colbert Report’ today, we take a look at a word that Stephen brought to us on that first night of his show: Truthiness!
VIDEO: Stephen Colbert honors designer Stephen Doyle
No doubt everyone here has read I Am America (And So Can You)!, right? (Please don’t tell us if you haven’t …) If so, then you’re familiar with Stephen Doyle’s work, whether you knew it or not. Mr. Doyle — one of those “good” Stephens, the kind with a “ph” — designed the cover for that estimable contribution to literature. In return for so attractively packaging I Am America, our Sir Dr. Stephen Colbert provided a lovely intro when Mr. Doyle was honored at last night’s National Design Awards.
NPR to News, other divisions: Don’t attend Stewart/Colbert rally

Here’s a new wrinkle to the Rally to Restore Sanity and March to Keep Fear Alive events: NPR has sent a reminder to certain of its divisions noting that they will not be allowed to attend unless they’re covering the rallies.
Huffington Post’s Sanity Bus price tag: $250K and counting

Well, we said before that Arianna Huffington’s offer to provide buses to the rallies was an incredibly generous gesture. Now that we’re seeing the cost of this offer, it’s even more staggering.
The Wrap has the story, and it looks like Arianna’s offer was as much of a surprise to her HuffPo cohorts as it was to delighted New Yorkers.
Stephen Colbert on the March to Keep Fear Alive: “I fear that people like [Jon Stewart] more than me”
Stephen Colbert held a conference call last Friday about his March to keep Fear Alive, speaking with journalists from numerous university papers about his hopes and fears for the march and rally. Especially about his fears … like his fear of Jon Stewart’s popularity.
