Life seems to have been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for Stephen Colbert fans in the UK lately. FX UK picked up The Colbert Report, then ruthlessly dropped it; access to the shows online seems to come and go without explanation; and I’ve heard that workarounds for viewing even the embedded clips are unreliable (to say the least).

Well, it’s perhaps not the perfect solution — that would be broadcasting The Colbert Report on More4 immediately after The Daily Show, where it belongs — but from what I’m seeing here, die-hard fans now have at least one more legitimate option: the UK iTunes Store appears to have added our favorite “Fundit” to its offerings. Not being in the UK, I can’t verify just now that this is up and running, but here’s a screenshot of the Colbert Report page I see if I try to get into the UK iTunes affiliate (click the image to enlarge):

I’m sure one or more of our international readers will chime in if they have any trouble with it, but I hope for the sake of the fans across the pond that this works out!

EDITED TO ADD: Looks like episodes of The Report are indeed available. Way to go, iTunes UK, and thanks for the confirmation, Chica!

We’re trying hard to keep up with all the rules for availability of episodes of ‘The Colbert Report’ and ‘The Daily Show’ for those of us living outside US boarders. Here in Italy I can watch full episodes on Comedy Central, but can’t purchase from iTunes. For Colbert Nationals living in Australia, it appears that the iTunes restriction is now gone. This update from Gizmodo:

The Daily Show And The Colbert Report Hit iTunes

The two best news programs on television, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, have just landed in the Australian iTunes Store.

Each episode costs $2.99, which is, of course, a complete ripoff. However, iTunes is offering a $10 multipass, which gets you 16 episodes of the show – or four weeks worth of episodes. Considering that the Comedy Channel, as part of the My Escape package on Foxtel – which is the only way to get the shows on Australian TV – costs $16 a month, the iTunes offer isn’t too bad a deal, especially if you have an Apple TV.

Yay! The EP featuring the songs from “A Colbert Christmas – The Greatest Gift of All” are officially available for purchase at iTunes. All the songs are on my iPhone as of about 15 minutes ago and will be listened to often this holiday season. Taking the visuals and audience reaction away from the songs and just listening to them makes me really appreciate the vocal talent that Stephen has, and that he was able to recruit for his special.

And you know I gotta ask … what did everyone think of “Cold, Cold Christmas”? For those who haven’t gotten the DVD yet, I guarantee you that the visuals add to the overall silliness of the song, but the audio is pretty great, too. Cause, you know, I kinda liked it.
