Rumors swirling about Stephen Colbert and his face injury
Posted by: | CommentsOur friends over at Videogum have dished, quietly, that it’s possible that the face violence may have occurred on a boat. Or, you know, not.
But I think the speculation is much more fun than the truth, don’t you? According to someone in the audience, Stephen Colbert said during today’s pre-show Q&A that it was bad clams that were so bad they were breaking out of his face. Then he said that he had a bad headache and his son hit him in the head with a sword and his daughter arose out of it, referencing the creation of Athena I believe.
I don’t care how it happened, as long as his face gets better soon.

How did Stephen Colbert injure his face?
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s the question of the day: What happened? What’s the real story behind Stephen’s shocking stitches, black eyes and other telltale signs of face violence? I initially assumed that he engaged in fisticuffs with these Godless Killing Machines but, like everyone else, I could only speculate.
Luckily for us, the very cool Videogum worked some connections to give us the real story:
What Really Happened To Stephen Colbert’s Face
So last night Stephen Colbert showed up with a messed-up face on The Colbert Report, where he was cagey about the provenance of his stitches and shiners in a way that made everyone a lot more curious about it. Stephen celebrated the one-year anniversary of WristStrong (how convenient!) and blamed his face-bustedness on a vow he made to never again break a fall with his hands:
. . .
I know some people at Comedy Central so I asked them what the gossip was around the office, and they all came back with similar versions of the same shocking story …
EDITED TO ADD: All kidding aside, check out comment 12 to this post. Hope everything’s back to normal soon, Stephen!

Stephen Colbert is FaceSTRONG
Posted by: | CommentsStephen Colbert seems to have really done a number on his face when he appeared on this evening’s edition of The Colbert Report. The face injury happened sometime between Thursday and Monday’s shows, and includes facial bruising around the eye area, three stitches between his eyebrows, and swelling of the nose. No news as to what actually happened, but we do have this screencap, for those who want to be really, really sad for him.

Poor Stephen. In all seriousness, I really want to wish him a speedy recovery. That looks painful as hell.

Just FYI, those aren’t shadows under his eyes, those are shiners. Ouch!
