I knew that as soon as we posted a spoiler about Stephen Colbert singing “Rocky Road to Dublin” that it would be high on the wish list for Vancouverage coverage. While it wasn’t shown online, Comedy Central just released a video of Stephen’s rendition of the song at the Ireland House during his week in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics, and I know that you guys are just going to love this!
Also, if you want to put it on your iPod or Zune (?!), Iazzy was kind enough to send us an MP3 of the song.

Great news – Viacom is not going to sue us!
Posted by: | CommentsI just got off the phone with Tony Fox, whom you might remember as the gentleman who I wrote the letter to last night. He wanted to convey to the readers of No Fact Zone, and other fan blogs, that his words were misconstrued. According to Fox, the original intent of Fox’s interview with the Hollywood Reporter was to give a bit more clarification for an article about Hulu discontinuing the availability of Comedy Central programming through their site. Here’s the official statement from Tony Fox:
“The Hollywood Reporter story, and headline in particular, is completely wrong. We have always tried to be as permissive as possible when looking at what might be fair use, and we haven’t changed our approach at all. Frankly, fair use works for us. We have never made it a practice to sue bloggers for the use of Comedy Central clips, and there’s no reason to believe that would be more likely today.”
Fox also made it very clear to me that, as we operate today, Viacom was very accepting of our fair use of their materials, and they encourage organic fan activity. And they specifically appreciate the No Fact Zone community.

The Rockterns’ Moment of Zen
posted by: comedy central insider
July 21, 2009 4:15 pmThe Rockterns capped off an amazing week full of free breakfasts with an intimate Q & A session with some guys who are on TV, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. The two-headed juggernaut of social commentary whom I refer to as Stewbert discussed the media (“I think the news media is just starting to catch on that we’re making fun of them.”), their approach to satire (Voltaire! Jonathan Swift! Smart things!) and the dues they paid (I, for one, totally would have watched The Magic Johnson Show if Stephen Colbert had played the “wacky uncle.”)
We were brimming with questions for the duo, many of which must remain confidential due to my not remembering them. But the Rockterns did have a long list of questions that we weren’t able to ask before being whisked away from the comedic Olympus that is the Daily Show offices. Insightful, meaningful questions …
When I grow up, I want to be a ‘Colbert Report’ intern. I so wish I was kidding.

Exclusive Video: Poet Muldoon suplements his income
Posted by: | CommentsComedy Central has posted some exclusive videos of recent guests on ‘The Colbert Report’ website this week. This one features Paul Muldoon who, asked by Stephen how he makes a living as a poet, demonstrates some income generating gigs.
Personally, I would love a Paul Muldoon voice option for my GPS. (Stephen Colbert, Jeremy Northam, and James McAvoy would be great options too.)
Exclusive – Backstage with Paul Muldoon
In the recession, poetry is not as lucrative of a field as it used to be. Irish poet Paul Muldoon explains how he keeps food on the table.

Wait, *how* many times has Neil deGrasse Tyson been on ‘The Colbert Report’?
Posted by: | CommentsEvery week, I’ve been going to the ‘Colbert Report’ site and playing the little Dr. Pepper Colbert Report Aptitude Test. I enjoy seeing if I can get stumped. Hasn’t happened yet, but I kept hoping.
But … today the test said that I had gotten a question wrong and I went, wait, huh? This is the one I got wrong.

Those of you who watched last Monday’s ‘Colbert Report’ will understand my confusion.

So, Dr. Pepper Marketing team, in addition to doing a little bit of research before naming your contest, you know, in case a fan site has been named that for over a year, you also might want to check your questions, just to make sure they’re current. Just sayin’.
That being said, I still love the cool, refreshing taste of Dr. Pepper, and drink it almost every day. Dublin Dr. Pepper is my very favorite, and Dublin Dr. Pepper on tap (like at Chicken Express) is nectar of the Gods, I s@#t thee not. I’d have to give back my Texan card if I didn’t love it, seeing as how it’s pretty much the national drink of Texas. Love, love, LOVE the stuff. And I would be more than ecstatic to win the free trip to New York City. Thank you, and God bless.

Heads (or Tails) up, Tweeters, and you could win.

Our good friends at Comedy Central Insider have announced the ‘Colbert’s Iraqi Coin Toss Twitter Challenge’. This is the chance to win be awarded the official “military” coin “issued” for Operation Iraqi Stephen (and given to the troops attending the shows in Baghdad) by twitting above and beyond the call of duty. But you’ve only got until June 22!
What’s the most you ever lost in a coin toss, friend-o? Better yet, what’s the most you ever won? Well, in Colbert’s Iraqi Coin Toss you could win this rare coin commemorating Stephen Colbert’s historic trip to Iraq. Not only is he the first television host to tape an entire week of shows within a battle zone, he’s also the first to have his face on a coin to honor the momentous occasion.
So, what is Colbert’s Iraqi Coin Toss? For starters, it’s not a coin toss in the traditional sense. Rather, it’s a Twitter challenge wherein we’ll toss the coin to the winner. Wordplay!
All you have to do is be the world’s biggest Colbert super-fan and able to demonstrate that in under 140 characters. Tweet your entries with the tag #colbertcoin any time between now and 11:59pm, June 22, and we’ll announce the winner on or after June 25.
ETA: If you do tweet, tell us what you said.
And h/t to Roland, once again, for the original heads up on this.
