News flash, y’all: Jon Stewart is not a sexist prick!
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you’ve probably missed out on the Jezebel kerfuffle of late (you can look it up easily enough if you’re interested). But the good folks over at The Daily Show noticed it, and they’ve posted a lovely response.
Stephen Colbert is finally going to host one of my favorite potential guests on The Colbert Report: Steve Carell! In the wake of Steve’s multiple returns to The Daily Show — and none to The Colbert Report — since his move to the West Coast, I was starting to feel like Jon was deliberately cockblocking Stephen for this primo guest. Now, at last, we’ll get to see the two Steves, together again. Hooray!

As has become tradition, Symphony Space is celebrating the occasion by staging a reading of Ulysses excerpts with a powerhouse cast of characters. For poor souls who can’t be there in person, make sure to catch the simulcast on June 16th (7 pm – 1 am).

Stephen Colbert has once again issued a call to arms, and he’s counting on us all to pitch in and help out the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and the Colbert Nation Gulf of America Fund. Why?
Because it’s the right thing to do.

This video actually captures the full skit of the Radio City Music Hall late night dance-off that Ann described in her earlier post, from Stephen’s first appearance to the post-skit hugs. The VH1 Do Something awards honor the best young world-changers, 25 and under, that are making the world a better place. The five nominees for this year’s award have done projects such as running theatrical companies for disabled children, training community health workers in Haiti, and funding school for poverty stricken girls in Kiberia.
In addition to celebrating these amazing young people, the awards have nominated celebrities in different categories. Stephen Colbert is nominated in the category of “Comedian” for his work in Iraq.
Happy news for all of those able to get to New York City for Symphony Space’s annual Bloomsday on Broadway celebration: TheaterMania is reporting that Stephen Colbert will be participating in the reading again this year!
