Support of worthy charities is a wonderful thing, and I couldn’t be happier about this man’s philanthropic efforts (see this Bisnow post for more).

But, if I’m being honest, I am posting this particular photo to acknowledge that Stephen Colbert is good at wearing clothes. Specifically, wearing the tuxedo. He’s quite good at that.

That is all.

I’d like all of you Zoners out there to give a big No Fact Zone welcome to our newest Completist, Gratefull! We are seriously excited to have her on the Completist team, and know she’s going to continue the proud NFZ tradition of being the best Stephen Colbert fan site on the net.

American audiences have really become enamored of Johnny Weir after his breathtaking performance at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Johnny Weir was teased by various late night types as being figure skating’s answer to Lady Gaga. Little did they know that Johnny knows Lady Gaga’s Mother and has attended concerts and surely, Lady Gaga is music’s answer to Johnny Weir.

We know that Weir is a fan of Stephen because Weir has tweeted about Stephen. Here Stephen (in episode #06026) teases Johnny that he is the most decorated of all Olympic champions – though in this picture, he is merely wearing business casual.

Johnny Weir - Business Casual

Due to the public play between these two during the Olympic games this year, we loved these pictures, originally featured on the NBC site with the meeting of Weir and Colbert, complete with Mountie hat/uniform. You can see the complete set at the US NBC Olympic page where they actually met in a dressing room in which Stephen was getting ready for a bit in full Mountie Regalia.

zeitgeist2Greetings, Zoners! I hope you’ve all enjoyed the massive outpouring of awesomeness that was Stephen’s visit to Vancouver this week. As a fan, I was overwhelmed with glee at all the fun activities we’ve been able to glimpse the past few days. But I’ll admit, as an NFZ completist, I was overwhelmed, period. There was too much out there to keep track of it all, and by Thursday afternoon I had to admit defeat. So I just sat back and enjoyed the fun when I could (I hate it when work interferes with my fangirling), and spent my evenings going back and forth between watching the Olympics and dashing around the Interwebs to find the latest Colbert news/photos/video. I spent today going through everything I’d missed, and seriously, words cannot express how much I would’ve liked to be in Vancouver this week!

It’s been impossible to avoid spoilers, but in the interest of keeping at least a few surprises for next week, I’m going to put the majority of this zeitgeist behind the cut so that if you have the strength to resist temptation, you won’t have the whole week completely spoiled for you. With the overwhelming amount of info floating around the Interwebs from Stephen’s trip, it’s inevitable that we’re going to miss something. I think I’ve rounded up the best highlights here, but if you see anything good out there that we didn’t put up on the blog, pass it along to us!

The first item isn’t a spoiler at all, but I thought I’d throw in a link to Stephen’s completely delightful appearance on NBC last night, which happened during the late night telecast. He looks fantastic in the Mountie uniform, don’t you think? (Click on the picture to go to the video.) (h/t to justine marie for originally posting the link in a comment to Ms. I’s earlier post)

Hey, y’all! I just saw a commercial previewing another Stephen Colbert appearance on TONIGHT’s late broadcast of the Olympics on NBC. And Stephen was wearing the uniform of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the teaser. It was, in a word, adorable.

A little item in the Stamford Advocate just now covered the close of Stephen’s trip, so we won’t get too many more of these charming tibits, unfortunately. But don’t despair, that same Stamford Advocate piece said “ … he’s not ruling out a trip to the 2012 Summer Games in London.” (Oh my!)

With all the chatter here about Stephen’s appearances at the Olympics and on Faces of America, it’s easy to overlook the approaching air date of The Pluto Files, where our favorite fundit defends that poor, downgraded celestial body. Happily for us, the good people at NOVA continue to release teaser vids:

NOVA | The Pluto Files with Neil deGrasse Tyson: What does Pluto’s demotion mean to Americans?

NOVA | The Pluto Files with Neil deGrasse Tyson: If Pluto is Not a Planet

This is going to be great! I read The Pluto Files on my commute last year, and it was interesting and very funny — just like Stephen and others involved in this production. (I mean, c’mon, a book that includes hate mail from elementary school children AND quotes Jonathan Coulton’s “I’m Your Moonhas to be awesome, right?) I fully expect the TV show to be every bit as brilliant.

I’m glad I’m not even trying to avoid spoilers this week, because it would be futile. Every time I check, there’s something new online, and it’s just hilarious. I’ve put some very spoiler-filled photos and video after the fold for those of you who, like me, are tickled pink by the idea of Stephen seeking his own little “Miracle on Ice” against the Russians.

Earlier today, I briefly snorted with laughter when I saw a tweet that said “Colbert showed up in vancouver to 10X the crowd they had set up for… The crowd chanted until Bob Costas rode the giant moose.” There’s really nothing about the idea of Bob Costas riding a moose that isn’t funny (and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before someone makes up an entry for “ride the moose” on UrbanDictionary.com).

So now my day is that much more wonderful, because now we have art:

I’ll put some more Eye Candy after the fold, but you should check out ShotinVancouver.com for the full set. (Note to the ShotinVancouver people, the name of the “Miracle on Ice” guest you were looking for is Mike Eruzione. He was our team captain in ‘80 when the US beat the Soviets.)
