Pop Culture references from the Colbert Report

Howdy Zoners! I hope you had a good break and a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Looks like Stephen did. He was glowing on Monday (even without the help of the lights)! My favorite segment by far this week were the ones surrounding the Colbuffington Re-post. I love it when Stephen does voices – and his impression of Arianna is especially delightful. What were your favorites this week?

Pop Culture references from the Colbert Report

Hey Zoners! Happy Early Spring! Hmm..although from the looks of the snow I’ve seen here in the south, I’m beginning to doubt the scientific accuracy of Punxatawney Phil’s predictions. One of my favorite segments was about Big Flats beer, because I worked in a pharmacy (I’ll leave you to guess where) for many years, so it made me laugh a little harder. Others (especially the interview with Sean Dorrance Kelly) really got my brain pumping – and nothing beats a good brain workout! What were some of your favorites?

Pop Culture references from the Colbert Report

Hello Zoners! I hope the State of Your Union (wherever it may be) is strong! If anything, I hope the state of our stomachs is strong enough for the beeftacular tacos some of us will inevitably buy (despite all warnings to the contrary) because Stephen made it look so tasty and harmless! From coked-up vacuums to the Nazi-ometer, this week really delivered on its promises (probably via a toaster with wheels). What were your favorite clips?

Pop Culture references from the Colbert Report

Nǐ hǎo Zoners! What a week! It’s been a little chilly here in the south, luckily I have a homemade Coma Cozy to keep me warm and sedentary – although it does make typing a little difficult. All of the guests this week were great, but I especially enjoyed Cornel West. He and Stephen have great rapport, and he gave us some great things to think about. The cultural references were also irreverent. In fact, I was going to put in a reference to Ben Wa balls until I was reminded that this is a family friendly blog. So the Black Swan bit is out too. Tell me Zoners, what were your favorite references this week?

Sveiki Zoners! Wow, what a somber and precarious situation to follow up. I was pleased with how Stephen and the writers handled it. The rest of the week was great, and stayed on point with the events that continued to unfold. Also, as someone married to a man with Lithuanian heritage (not recent, though), the bit on the Lithuanian national perfume was, by far, my favorite clip of the entire week. I never thought Stephen would give me such fodder for family gatherings. What were your favorites this week?

Bonne année Zoners, and welcome back! I am so excited to have the show back this week. They sure hit the ground running in 2011, and gave us quite a few gems – not just the sapphire kind! I nearly fell off the couch in fits of laughter as I watched the Vaxa-Mime sketch, and I don’t think I am alone in saying that Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of my favorite reoccurring guests. What were your favorite references?

Greetings, Zoners! My name is Toad, and this is my inaugural post as a fellow Colbert Completist, and I couldn’t have picked a better week to join in! Cee Lo Green’ s cable friendly rendition of “F@%k You” (make that “Fox News”) is still stuck in my head, and Stephen’s cooking segment with Martha Stewart had me reminiscing about the times my brother and I had to get creative with what was in the food closet.
