Klassic Kolbert – The devil bowed his head because he knew that he’d been beat
BySometimes, just for the heck of it, I’ll allow myself to get lost on YouTube. And when I do, inevitably I’ll run into this video and it makes me smile for hours after I’ve watched it. So, as always, enjoy this yummy piece of Klassic Kolbert featuring Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello.

Totally my favorite video of those two together! I can’t help but giggle uncontrollably every time I see it.
All day I’ve been thinking about how they need to do another project together. Seeing this posted is a sign! HAHAH! Just kidding, but thanks DB!

got a question:
is this a classic or famous song of somekind? or did they make it up?

Yes, this is “Devil went down to Georgia” by the Charlie Daniels Band – a big hit in the early 80’s when country crossovers were relatively common. You should be able to look it up on YouTube to hear the original.
Also, thank you for winning today’s award for making me feel very, very old.

its not that you’re old DB, but only that my exposure to musical culture in the 80s is limited to pop — lauper, madonna, jackson, etc. :)

Chiming in: Stephen makes casual references to Charlie Daniels and/or “golden fiddles” on The Report every now and again, too; once you’re familiar with the song, those will make more sense. :)
(Also, DB, stop saying you’re old!)

Oh how weird. I heard this song earlier today and immediately thought of this video. And now I come here and find it posted.
Love how Stephen smells Paul’s bassoon and then just sort of shrugs.

I completely forgot that they didn’t actually play the bassoons…which I realize is the joke. Haha!
