‘Daily Show’ writer Daniel Radosh on the origins of the Rally to Restore Sanity

The whole interview is an amazing read – and Radosh goes on to say about the rally that “It was incredible; it was an amazing experience.”

From that moment, Radosh writes in Rapture Ready, he “had to know what it meant to judge a band by how hard it prayed rather than how hard it rocked.”

Hehe, oh, what a task that must’ve been. This book sounds incredibly fascinating, thanks for adding another book to my already long list of stuff I want to read :p.

Fascinating interview. The idea that Beck views himself as a possible spiritual leader of sorts is unsettling, to put it nicely. The religious right in general bother me on all sorts of levels. Yes, Obama talks about Christianity, too, and makes references to Scripture and such, but Radosh is right, he’s not faking it, because he doesn’t put himself on some high morality horse that nobody in their right mind could ever hope to reach, thinking he’s perfect and the rest of us are all depraved sinners who need to see the error of our ways.

But the religious right feel this need to make everybody think and act the way they do. I am all for everyone believing whatever makes them happy spiritually, but when it crosses over into trying to force others to follow your worldview, that’s when it gets scary and sketchy.

Meh. Anywho, thanks for the article, very interesting read. And I’m glad he changed his mind about the rally, too. I love hearing that Jon refuses to just let the show simply be “good”, that he wants to constantly keep it being the best it can be. May he always stick with that attitude.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up +2
