No doubt everyone here has read I Am America (And So Can You)!, right? (Please don’t tell us if you haven’t …) If so, then you’re familiar with Stephen Doyle’s work, whether you knew it or not. Mr. Doyle — one of those “good” Stephens, the kind with a “ph” — designed the cover for that estimable contribution to literature. In return for so attractively packaging I Am America, our Sir Dr. Stephen Colbert provided a lovely intro when Mr. Doyle was honored at last night’s National Design Awards.

This wonderful article posted over at HuffPo yesterday reminded me why I admire Stephen so much for the way he demonstrates his faith at unexpected times, especially when he’s in character. And for an excellent analysis of why Stephen’s expressions of faith are so effective, the article goes to one of the best sources available, the “official” Colbert Report chaplain, Father James Martin.
