VIDEOS: Wednesday, October 27, 2010

ZOMG two days y’all! TWO DAYS Y’ALL! We’ve gotten yet another new intro: Let Feardom Ring! Wonder what tomorrow’s will be? I’m still in shock that a woman was thrown to the ground and assaulted at a political meeting, but I’m both horrified and amused that the idiot who did it would be stupid enough to try to justify it on television. I wonder if Tom Perriello will get the Colbert Bump from his appearance?

Stephen’s use of an orange highlighter was the best use of a prop on the show in quite some time. So wrong, and yet, so hysterical. I don’t watch “Jersey Shore” either, although I have to admit that the cast seems to at least understand the ridiculousness of their situation. Heh, “The Situation.” Man, 100,000 people. That’s a lot of people. A *lot* of people. But are we going to get a sing-along at the rally? God, I hope so. Check out the lyrics and the audio at KeepFearAlive.com! My costume is going to be “Blogger”, so it’s not really a stretch – but Stephen is afraid of us, I promise!

Apolo Ohno is looking lovely. Also? Thank you, Stephen, for reminding me of the spandex.

What did all of you think of the episode tonight? Leave it in the comments!

My eight-year-old got it at a Denny's. We blew most of the budget on the rally.

  • It’s her own damn fault, folks. Everyone knows if you don’t want someone to step on your face at tea party rally, you carry a flag that says “Don’t Tread On Me”.
  • I doubt her skull provides much arch support.
  • That’s why you always stomp with the knees, and never with the back. Or better yet, use one of these reacher stompers – stay down!
  • Now, to see just where the election stands right now, let’s bring up the ‘Colbert report’s’ 2010 election map. My eight-year-old got it at a Denny’s. We blew most of the budget on the rally.
  • As you can see, from all the red up here, the republicans are doing very well with pirates and parrots, but they’ve still got a few obstacles to overcome before they reach their ultimate prize, which is a chestful of tax cuts for the top 2%.
  • It seems excessive. But remember, in west virginia, that’s what they use for a hole punch.
  • You’re throwing around these esoteric concepts like education and jobs. Why not run on a universal message – Muslims freak me out.
  • That sounds like a bold energy initiative. Have you thought about running on that slogan, Tom Periello: Chicken Sh*t?
  • With that in mind, what is your position on legalizing medical marijuana because from what I remember is there were a lot of very anxious kids there with terrible cases of glaucoma.
  • I have some news. It is official. Yesterday, October 26th, journalism died. In the end it wasn’t the internet that killed it, it was a Wall Street Journal cover story featuring a stippled drawing of Snooki. I didn’t really recognize her until I filled in her face with an orange highlighter. I don’t even watch the show.
  • Reece’s are in fact made from Rhesus monkeys. And hey, it’s a lot better than what they put in Kit Kats.
  • Oh my God, that’s one thing I hadn’t thought to be afraid of. I’m getting on a stage in front of 100,000 people. What if they laugh? Why are you laughing? Stop it! Kaitlin! What did you do to me?
  • If I’m going to be this scared at the rally, so should my arch frenemy, Jon Stewart.
  • On three, follow the bouncing skull:
Have you seen the ghost of Jon
Long white bones with the rest all gone
    Ooooooooooooooo!
Wouldn’t it be chilly with no skin on?
  • We’ll see you on Saturday, rain, shine, or rapture.
  • You have a warrior mentality and swords on your feet?
  • Incredible is the word I used, too. It had no credit.

When Stephen mimics the graphics I always end up laughing harder than I expect to! His “I wish I could coil” line is what did it this time. Wonderful pics from the students and Stephen’s reaction to everyone laughing demonstrates his depth as a comedian and actor. The closing shot made me want to just sit at a table and color w/Stephen. I would bid on that auction item if the opportunity presented itself!

Added bit of irony to the head-stomping Rand Paul supporters: the guy that pinned her down before she got stomped was wearing… wait for it… a Don’t Tread On Me button.

Love the sing-along. I dearly hope that’s part of the rally (I can’t be there, but I’ll be watching online!).

DB,I got to disagree. The reacher stomper was the best prop last night! Just the thought of pinhead fascist so lazy they need the help of “reacher stompers” to beat up the prey, was so absurd, it made me LOL so hard I started to choke! Reacher stompers also reminded me of my grandmother’s picker-upper thingy. The best friend of all old people! And anything that reminds me of my grandmother is good! :)
I really shouldn’t mention this. But. When Stephen was getting ready to sing the song to scare Jon at the rally, I tried to think ahead of Stephen (like I always do) & what would be the most frightening song for Jon to hear Stephen & his fans sing at him? The first thing in my mind was: “Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel. I made it out of clay…”
Opps! Missed it by that much! ;)

The “Don’t Tread on Me” line was fantastic, that was a nice pun. And part of me really wonders how many Tea Partiers actually know the meaning and purpose of that phrase. Stephen yelling at his audience to stop laughing at him kinda made me want to hug him, that was adorkably funny. And I loved the closing shot of Stephen coloring, so DB, I’m pretty much in love with that screencap. :)

When Stephen started singing “The Ghost of Jon,” I cheered – we used to sing that in my music class in elementary school! That made me instantly happy and nostalgic (the original song is Jon with an ‘H’). I want to hug whichever TCR staffer thought that up.
