No doubt everyone here has read I Am America (And So Can You)!, right? (Please don’t tell us if you haven’t …) If so, then you’re familiar with Stephen Doyle’s work, whether you knew it or not. Mr. Doyle — one of those “good” Stephens, the kind with a “ph” — designed the cover for that estimable contribution to literature. In return for so attractively packaging I Am America, our Sir Dr. Stephen Colbert provided a lovely intro when Mr. Doyle was honored at last night’s National Design Awards.

Congratulations, Mr. Doyle! I loved that cover, by the way; the eagles in Stephen’s eyes were a particularly cool touch.
…After watching the first part of that video, I can definitely see why they called Stephen’s piece an “oasis”!
Stephen’s bit was hilarious though, loved the desk hand – and yes, the book was easy on the eyes! ;)

I’m always fascinated watching videos without the live audience. Stephen’s timing is fantastic.
I haven’t read the book. (I know, I know…) I just ordered it two weeks ago and it hasn’t arrived yet! But I’ve listened to the audiobook! Not all of it though. /bad fan

Even as an art director, the thought of sitting through any creative awards ceremony fills me with abject horror. Cringe. Zzzzz. However, if Stephen was going to be presenting me with an award, all my cynical apathy [and modesty!] would no doubt go flying out the window…..gimme! gimme! GIMMMEEEEE!

i also find it interesting watching videos when there isn’t an audience- while stephen is hilarious and doesnt need a laugh track it does add an extra level to the connection btn “stephen” (and stephen) and the audience.
on a side note- i remember when i discovered the eagles in his eyes- i was just looking at the cover and i noticed these white things in his eyes so i took a closer look and i was like omg what attention to detail!! i was so surprised (it was like an extra treat for the truly devoted fans who stare for hours at the cover ;)
