There’s a fun photo essay over at Comedy Central’s “Indecision Forever” site — blogger Gonzalo Cordova spent a day on the set of a promo shoot for The Daily Show/Colbert Report’s Indecision 2010 Midterm Mania. Lots of fun backstage pictures of Jon and Stephen, the writers, the correspondents, Aasif Mandvi’s spyphone briefcase, etc.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege to watch a promo shoot for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report midterm election coverage. I spent all day taking pictures and eating food at the craft services table. (I’m using the word “food” very liberally. There was great food there, but I mostly ate the candy). Basically, it was awesome. Let’s get right to it with this photo essay (the classiest kind of essay).

I particularly like Cordova’s caption here: “I just love Colbert’s face in this. It really reminds you of how he is the best guy.” He IS the best guy! There’s no denying it! Sounds like Cordova really had a fun time on set, I’m a tiny bit jealous. All right, I’m a large bit jealous.

This is my favorite caption: “…Someone asked Stephen if he needed a teleprompter and he said he didn’t, because he went to theater school. The second he flubbed a line, Jon started prancing around singing, “Ooooh, I went to theaaater school.” :)

Those are awesome. Good to know its fun to shoot those promos. It sounds somewhat tedious to spend a whole day on a few really short promos. I’m looking forward to seeing them, though! But “Midterm Mania”? What about “Midterm Midtacular”?
