There are quite a few Dream Guests that fans request for the ‘Colbert Report’. We were lucky enough to see one recently when Steve Carell was a guest. Another person that is always on the top of the list is Hugh Laurie. While it’s well established that Stephen Colbert and Hugh Laurie have a mutual admiration society, we’ve never actually seen the two of them in the same place. Until now.
Also, I couldn’t find a large copy of this pic, but how awesome does Stephen Colbert look in a tux and aviator glasses? That would be hella awesome, btw.

I still find it baffling that Hugh Laurie is a sex symbol these days – it must be all those years of seeing him playing upper class arses on British TV before he went Stateside.
Stephen, on the other hand…. nope, I find nothing baffling about his majestic allure. These pics of him are just luvvvvvvverly, even without his specs. I do love the specs, but I’ll happily put up with the aviators on this occasion!

I loved him on Blackadder, DB. But my first thought is usually the sketch show he did with Stephen Fry (‘A Bit of Fry and Laurie’) where Hugh would usually do a song spoofing different styles of music – he’s funny, he sings, plays piano, plays guitar….
What I would love to see a Stephen-Hugh musical number on TCR.

Hugh Laurie is insanely talented (and yes, I also find him completely unreasonably attractive, so I’ll admit theres a bias there), and the fact that he’s a composer, plays, and sings does add to the appeal.
But I love that he’s so creative in other ways, too. Have you ever read his novel? It’s full of hilarious mental images and general fun (shocking, right?); he’s been talking about writing another forever, but always in a “someday …” sort of way that tells me not to hold my breath for it.
