What’s the relationship like between The Daily Show and The Colbert Report?

Oh, it’s like brothers. We’re the older brother and we helped create the younger brother. It’s been a hell of an hour. I think now people think of us as a team. Jon and Stephen are great friends and they’re both wonderful people and it’s been a good relationship. I’ve done some work with Stephen as well… and it’s great. It’s very rare that you get to have a spinoff that is so harmonious with the original.

Comments

  1. Katydidnt says:

This will tell you what kind of a nerd I am. When Steve Carell started playing the fife in his David Letterman interview, I immediately thought, “That’s the song from the Pied Piper sketch on the Dana Carvey Show!”

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

  2. pkyoubuggin says:

I am not new, i changed my username from wildlymissingthemark to this one. Just needed a change, and shorter name.
Anywhoo, thanks for the heads up on Amy and David Sedaris’ appearances. I will definitely check out Amy in Raleigh, and I am going to try to see David there as well.
Steve Carell was great on Letterman–I love everything he does.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up +1

  3. Bri says:

I guess Jeff Goldblum has appeared enough times on TCR to include him on here. I laughed first though when I saw his name at the bottom of this list.
    Also, yay for Mark!!
And Steve Carell has been everywhere lately promoting his movies. I’m surprised he didn’t co-host Regis and Kelly with Kelly so Regis could have another day off.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

    • Laura says:

I want him to come to do the Carell Corral after he gets done with the Office. Hey, the Report started out as a joke promo on The Daily Show. Why not have TCR spawn a new show?
Who wants to make a bunch of movies anyway? Come to NY Steve!!!

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up +1

      • DJ Jazzy Flax says:

I want the writers of The Office to somehow incorporate Steve’s fife playing skills onto the show, just like they did with Ed Helms & his banjo.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

  4. Michele says:

David Sedaris will also be appearing at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, OH on October 10. My husband and I have tickets! YAY!

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

    • lockhart43 says:

That’s awesome! Have fun! He was absolutely wonderful when I saw him in April – you should have a blast. :)

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up +1

  5. Rebecca-Anne says:

Great interview with David Javerbaum, I had no idea he had left or was planning to leave TDS.

Loved the interview with Peter Grosz and John Lutz, it excites me to know that people from TCR and 30 Rock are working together. Both shows are so brilliantly clever. It would be fantastic if Stephen was a guest star one day!!

Thanks for the round up Katt, can’t wait for more Steve Carell goodness!!

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up +2
