In honor of the 41st anniversary of man’s first stroll on the surface of the moon, I thought it would be fun to look back at how Stephen marked the occasion last year: with a demonstration of zero-G candy consumption, and little Stevie ColberT’s historic coverage of the event, proof that Stephen’s love affair with NASA and the space program started when he was very young. Featured in this video are an appearance by (we believe) the youngest Colbert kid, John, portraying his dad; a classic prop failure (always funny!); and an epic character break. Enjoy the cuteness!

I love this! Obviously the “zero gravity”candy bar & character break are massive!
But I think I like best the look in Stephen’s eyes after he’s watched his son. He looks so in love with the boy!
One of the greatest fathers of all-time? Or THE greatest father of all-time? :D
Thanks for this Ann.

I’ve been trying all day to remember what it was about July 20 – shame on me! I think I was out of the country last year and so didn’t see that NY Times re-created headline.
that is just such a wonderful segment, great to see it all again. This time around I had a kick out of noticing the “late 60s” background and old TV behind young Stephen.
Hilarious and cute. Thanks.

This is actually one of my favorite clips – that character break after the massive prop failure is just adorable. And I love the clip of his son, too funny! The “Ooo paint chips” line makes me think of the movie Tommy Boy every single time. :P

This is one of my absolutely most favorite clips ever! Thanks for posting it, Ann!
“Nnnnnnnixon did it! Nnnnnnnixon did it!”
Clearly, there is an adorkable gene somewhere on the Colbert family DNA. How on earth did Dr. Gates miss that during Faces of America? :D
