It is a day for celebration in the Colbert Nation, for Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, DFA turns 46 today. Happy birthday, Sir Dr. Stephen! To honor Stephen, and thank him for the joy he brings us 160 episodes a year (and many of the days in between), we’re spotlighting one of Stephen’s favorite charities, DonorsChoose.org.
DonorsChoose.org is an amazing charity founded on an incredibly simple idea: ask teachers what they need for their classrooms, and provide a way for individuals to contribute directly to funding those specific projects. In this model, even small donations make a concrete difference. Just listen to Stephen describe how meaningful these donations are to students and teachers:
Last year, Stephen participated in the DonorsChoose.org Great Give-Back Birthday event, and asked members of the Colbert Nation to donate to classroom projects in his name. The page is still active, and there are many projects still in need of funds.
