So as Stephen’s first day of filming in Canada closed yesterday, it seems like every media outlet known to man has decided to write a report about it. We’re going to do our best here to gather up the best of what’s out there so far.
- The LA Times has an article describing Stephen’s warm welcome in Vancouver: “‘This was a welcome we would not have imagined in our wildest dreams,’ Colbert said with rare sincerity. ‘I want to take back everything I ever said about Canada.’”
- ESPN asks whether Stephen Colbert would like to be run over by the Zamboni. His answer? “”I would like to try. I’d like to lie down in front of it to see if it could make me smooth. It would be dermabrasion and also lower the swelling at the same time. That would be great. That would be a very expensive spa procedure, to get viciously Zambonied.”
- The NBC Olympic page has some amazing eye candy of Stephen Colbert filming at the Richmond Olympic Oval yesterday, as well as the ‘Colbert Report’ taping in Creekside Park.
- Lest we forget, Canada has some media outlets as well. The Toronto Sun discusses Stephen’s role as Assistant Sports Psychologist for the 2010 U.S. Olympic Speedskating team. His visualization for the team is “Imagine that I have stuffed your suit with meat, and I have released wild dogs on the ice.”
- Thanks to the many Zoners who let me know that the Bob Costas interview with Stephen Colbert that aired late last night is available for viewing on the NBC Olympic page.
We’ve also got lots more news reports, YouTube videos and eye candy to post, and we’ll keep blogging as fast as we can. So stay tuned for the latest about Stephen Colbert in Vancouver!

Is there any other link for his NBC interview? ‘Cause unfortunately it’s not viewable for international viewers.

All of this is so, so awesome. Thank you all for your continued support of US Speedskating. I know I felt the Colbert Nation support last night when Shani Davis won his gold. Twitter was buzzing with excitement. So THANK YOU, everyone!

I got hooked on speedskating during the Torino games, so I’m thrilled about the Colbert Nation sponsorship! However, I have to say, I think I lose about a month off my life for every short track race I watch, they’re so heart-stoppingly exciting!!
Also, recaptcha: “disrobed appointment” Nothing to do with speedskating, but, *ahem*.

I was so happy for Davis and Hedrick last night! It’s truly great what the US Speedskaters have already accomplished in Vancouver. By the way, the facebook page is awesome!

That’s a great slideshow on the NBC website!! Is he holding a skate up to a sandwich in one of them? And reading Cat Fancy? Haha! Thanks for rounding up all the awesomeness! :D

The pictures of him putting putting mayo on his sandwich with a skate, and then cutting the sandwich had me laughing so hard!
The Cat Fancy magazine totally made me think of IAAASCY and Amy Sedaris reading as Dolores Grierson, “2:15 to 7:00: Fancied my cats in accordance with latest cat-fancying trends.” HA!

Same here! :P
Oh my goodness, I absolutely thought of Amy’s Dolores Grierson as well! Ha ha!

I wasn’t able to stay up late enough for the interview on NBC, but I knew I’d find the link here in the morning! Hilarious. Can’t wait to see next week’s shows.

I’m finally getting caught up on all the awesomeness from yesterday, and seriously, Stephen climbing into the fireplace at the end of the NBC interview was hi-LAR-ious. Also good? Stephen telling the crowd at the taping in the morning that he likes Bob Costas because “he’s bite-sized.” Hah!

As a former subscriber (hey, I was 12!), I love the recurrent Cat Fancy jokes!

Thank you so much for linking to the interview; I’ve been waiting all day for a chance to watch it.
I’m with Ann G: Stephen’s crawling into the fireplace was hysterical, & my favorite part of the interview.
