We’ve already linked a few articles on the blog that mentioned Stephen’s upcoming ‘Better Know a Riding’ segment with Ujjal Dosanjh, but there’s a new article in The Province that quotes Dosanjh at some length on taping that Colbert Report segment. In deference to those who prefer remaining (relatively) unspoiled, I’ve put an excerpt behind the fold. For those of you eager to know more, read onward!

February 16, 2010Veteran Liberal Ujjal Dosanjh doesn’t know how he’ll come off when satirical talk-show host Stephen Colbert airs a segment on the Vancouver South MP next week.

Dosanjh had caught glimpses of The Colbert Report, but wasn’t all that familiar with the show when its producers came calling about doing an interview. Dosanjh’s staffers and his 33-year-old son Aseem, a lawyer, convinced the MP to do the show.
“[Aseem] said, ‘Dad, this is something special.’ He watches the show regularly,” Dosanjh says. “I watched some episodes as we were preparing for it. It’s essentially a takeoff of right-wing-pundit talk shows, and I kind of liked the way he did that.”

Of course, this isn’t going to be the first time Stephen gets to “Better Know” a Member of Parliament (not quite), but I’m really looking forward to seeing this finished segment with our Northern neighbor (or “neighbour”).
Kudos to Dosanjh — and Aseem! — for being such it-getters!
