Stephen Colbert on “Citizens United v. FEC”
ByArrrrgh! The Supreme Court handed down a truly disturbing ruling in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case today, and while I can’t say I’m surprised by it, I’m deeply, deeply disappointed. To remind everyone what this case was about (and why I’m so disturbed), here are the segments Stephen dedicated to the case from four months ago:

Here’s hoping Congress exercises its legislative powers soon to limit corporate participation in campaigns … not that I’m holding my breath for that, either.

I saw Toobin talking about this earlier today on either CNN or MSNBC. I agree that while it’s not entirely surprising, it is very disappointing.

Not only is this disappointing, it’s frightening. By essentially saying that corporations count as people, the Supreme Court has opened the floodgates. I have a feeling that the next Republican National Convention will be re-named the Tostitos Convention Bowl for Republicans.

Yeah, the more I think about it the more disappointed and just plain angry I become. The consequences of this ruling could be very grave. *sigh*

This is right up there with the suckiest news this month, or even longer. Talk about “Activist Judges” – WTF is wrong with those people?
No, wait, don’t tell me. They’re D-bags?

Well, it was a 5-4 decision, so technically, we know at least five of them are D-bags. ;)

Yes, exactly what America needed…less regulation of corporations!
Poor corporations, they’ve had it rough these last 100 years since they became people; such a woeful shortage of corporate speech, they’ve only got what, 35,000 registered lobbyists, talking up “our” (we the people’s) representatives in DC.
