Klassic Kolbert: Daily Show Edition – God

Hello Zoners! Wow, it feels like forever since I’ve done one of these. What’s that? It feels that way because my last post was on Halloween? Wow. I feel so ashamed. Well, I’m back anyway! Well, on Monday, Morgan Freeman was a guest on the show. Among other things, he’s best known for his movie role as God. Therefore, I thought I’d bring to you a This Week in God segment. No, this isn’t just a shameless excuse to watch a TWiG, why would you ask? Enjoy!

This is one of my all time fave TWIGs. Unless I’m very much mistaken, this might the last on air segment Stephen did for TDS. And in light of the disgusting comments made by Pat Robertson about the tragedy in Haiti, it’s very apropos. That man can’t die soon enough.

I just can’t wait for Pat Roberson to get up to heaven, and to get rejected. There is no way that a just and merciful God would let that creep in.

Excellently timed, LadyNocturne! This was just the antidote we needed for the absolutely vile sh@# that Pat Robertson has been spewing lately.

Okay, *breathe*, family-friendly blog… family-friendly blog…

Remember what Christ said about people who “make long prayers loudly as a show” to others. He hated that the most. Even Christ depised those who used God as a way bolstering themselves (their own egos) above others.

A lot of people said the same thing when the typhoons hit the Philippines last September, and when Mayon Volcano was spewing lava last November/December. It’s silly, bigoted, and racist, all at the same time, with the last two outweighing the first. Thanks for the clip!

“…and then it rode off on a unicorn.”

I love this clip, so much. Stephen on TDS is never NOT a joy to watch. Thanks for posting!

I’m laughing so hard. I love it, and it is certainly appropriate for this week. He really knows how to skewer hypocrites.

Plus…
*You people are fakokta* (Spelling? — I’m Jewish but don’t know!)
There’s something about Stephen speaking Yiddish that just always has me in hysterics.

Thank you!

Hahaha! Take that, Pat Robertson. That guy is insane – and not just because he’d put his name on an energy drink.

I love that Stephen offers the “meteorologists” point of view in such a skeptical way. LOL.

I never really appreciated TWiG until it was gone. Looking back, it was such a brilliant segment, right up there with “Even Stephven.”
The way Stephen puts religious issues in perspective in the course of current events, without ridiculing the notion of religiousity itself, is admirable and unique.
