Anyone know if each person is getting their own episode or is it all together? I would like to plan a night:)

The Faces of America twitter feed links to an about.com article which says there are going to be four episodes. It seems like Stephen will be in the second one, but I’ll try to watch them all just in case.

They could be showing parts of the interview that didn’t make the final cut? I’d think that Colbert sat down longer than 20 minutes with Gates.

I find it odd that people would like the character more than the person. The character is hilarious within the context of the show but there isn’t much about him that’s very likeable. The man, however, seems to have a lot of likeable qualities.

You know, I really like the way he sometimes deliberately stops and thinks about what he’s going to say, instead of just blurting out something. He isn’t afraid to let a silence fall into the conversation occasionally, when most people wouldn’t dare ever fall silent, because that would be a sign that they’re failing as a conversationalist.
Me, I can’t help but take it as a sign of thoughtfulness, and intelligence. And I love him for it.
Silence is so underrated. :)

That’s what I thought, too, SpiritMuse! I really enjoyed how thoughtful he was about his answers. Him stroking his cheek while thinking was cute, too.

I completely agree. It’s so great that he takes the time to speak frankly and sincerely. :)

I agree! He’s so thoughtful. Just the way he pauses to think about what he’s going to say is so endearing. =)

I could, seriously, listen to him talk for hours.
Hearing him talk about discovering his ancestor’s history makes me think of the commentary in the SWC ep “Behind Blank Eyes,” when he says that the high school they shot the episode at was the same high school his father attended. I cannot wait for this special to air. :)

In this, and other interviews, I admire (and envy!) his ability to come up with relevant, meaningful quotations on the spot. I’m pretty well-read, and there are passages in many works that have personally struck me, but very few which I’m able to recite by heart. He’s got a good mind *and* a good memory! :)
More generally, I’m really looking forward to the program. The BBC aired a similar series a while back (called “Who Do You Think You Are?”, I think) on the family heritage of prominent Brits, and that was great.

I can’t wait for this to air (or rather i can’t wait for this to mysteriously end up on the internets so that we non-american citizens can watch it too *hint hint*). I’m just gonna repeat what everyone has already said, but it’s so great to see him out of character.

This sounds wonderful. I have recently become interested in genealogy and I’ve realized that I am related to just about everyone. I may be related to Stephen. Considering how hot Stephen is, I think I’d rather not be related to him. :-)
Looking forward to this. As always, thanks for the heads up.
