Colbert’s face on Ohno’s butt cheeks? Listen to Dan Patrick’s show

UPDATED BELOW

Hahaha! I’ll update this with the audio as soon as it’s available, but Stephen Colbert was a guest on Dan Patrick’s podcast this morning and had some hilarious things to say about the Nation, US Speedskating, Keith Olbermann, and more. His description of the Sports Illustrated cover shoot, calling the speedskaters’ skinsuits “Spanx” for men, was hilarious.

Here’s a post about the interview from Patrick’s blog to tide you over until the audio is up:

Stephen Colbert on speedskating, Tiger Woods’ sponsors

Stephen Colbert joined the show to talk about being on the Sports Illustrated cover this week and the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Colbert explained the U.S. Speedskating team lost their sponsor during the economic crisis. Colbert asked “Colbert Nation” to step up and they raised $300,000. Now they’re competing internationally with Colbert plastered on their uniform. Dan suggested he put the logo on the athletes’ backsides.

“I would love to have my picture on Apollo Ohno’s butt cheeks,” Colbert said.

Thanks for the tip about the show, lvtcr!

UPDATED TO ADD: The link to the audio is now up (thanks, Roland); you can listen to the segment here (also linked through the entry above). It starts about twelve minutes in. Enjoy!

FURTHER UPDATED: There’s video of Patrick in-studio during Stephen’s call. The audio is (obviously) the same, but it’s sort of fun to watch the reaction of Dan and his crew during the interview. Stephen’s great at making people laugh — and it’s nice to hear his real laugh, too.

it sounded like dan said ‘reporT’ a few times (gasp scandalous!!), but he corrected it by the end, thankfully. :)

Glad I could be of service!

My dad actually called me this morning when he heard he would be on Dan’s show (my dad listens to sports radio the why I watch Stewart/Colbert!) so I got to listen in real time!

Ah, the musings of Stephen Colbert…he has a witty retort for most anything. I really liked how he described his ice skating abilities–enough to make it around the rink for Daddy-Daughter skates–too cute!

I didn’t hear that part when watching the video. Is the only-audio longer?

The only audio is longer. It is right after the part where they discuss Apollo Ohno and ask Stephen if he can skate. [not sure about the time] I think the video is edited at this point, but the audio only includes how he now lives in the North and I think he used the word “hobble” to describe skating around a rink. Not sure how much they edited out over the course of the interview, it just was a cute visual of picturing him “hobbling” around the rink with his daughter.

SO GOOD! I loved the little bit about him skating, it reminded me of that challenge he got from that CBC dink. I was hoping he’d have some hidden skills that we didn’t know about, and he’d pull em out and shock us all in Vancouver. But I guess he really can’t skate. haha

Perhaps he can team up with Carell and have him do the race for him… least we not forget Steve is quite the skater.

Finally got a chance to listen to this, and I loved it! “It’s an all over head-to-toe man Spanx….it’s a manx.” bwahaha! I am joyous over how ridiculously funny Stephen is. :)
