Weekend Brunch – Thanksgiving Edition
By
Welcome to our (mostly) weekly discussion group to talk about Stephen, our lives, our friendships with each other, and pretty much anything you’d like to talk about with other readers of No Fact Zone, what we here affectionately call “the Zoners”.
Good morning, Zoners! I sure hope everyone is having a lovely time spending time with family and friends, watching your favorite sports team win and/or lose, and eating until your pants don’t fit anymore. It’s a gorgeous day here in downtown Dallas. The window’s open, the pecan pies are cooking in the oven, and soon I will be heading out to BFriscoE to have a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with my friends John P and his beautiful bride Holly and their 24 pound turkey. My other half, on the other hand, is freezing in Wisconsin with his family, and I’m sure is having a lovely time and the feeling will come back to his fingertips any moment now.
This sure has been a busy break week, huh? I’m not used to seeing so much new news come out of a break week. And I would also like to thank the Zoners for being civilized in the comments about the, um, lunch that Stephen was so thoughtful to pack during his Lake Placid adventure. It’s weeks like this, though, that I’m so very grateful to have a blogging staff that helps to spread the work around, so we all get a chance to take a bit of a blogging breather. I’ve been enjoying the time around my house on a Joss Whedon Hulu binge, watching the first season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and the only season of “Firefly”. Nathan Fillion AND Adam Baldwin AND Alan “Father” Tudyk in the same TV program, and written by Joss Whedon to boot? How have I never watched this show before?!
This is a bit random, but I’ve been meaning to introduce all of you to someone who kind of rocks my world on a regular basis. If you don’t follow my Twitter feed, you may not have been exposed to the utter awesomeness that is The Bloggess, who makes me laugh at pretty much every turn and to whom I someday hope to make a fool out of myself in front of as I thank her for all the joy she brings to my life. Also, you seriously need to check out James Garfield.
It’s also traditional for people to give thanks this time of year, so I’d like to talk about the things I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for a very cute husband with a really great butt that puts up with me blogging about another man for most of my waking spare time. I’m thankful for having a wonderful job, with a wonderful boss, and wonderful pay, and a wonderful cubicle, with wonderful hours that allow me to do my episode guides every morning and still get a good night’s sleep most nights. I’m thankful for the Completists, who have taken this blog from being a very nice fan site to being not only the #1 Stephen Colbert fan site on the web, but one of the best sites on the web for any fandom out there. I’m thankful for this wonderful community we have here at No Fact Zone, who let me talk about Stephen Colbert all I want and share with me the happiness that is the Joy Machine. And, last, but certainly not least, I am thankful for Stephen Tyrone Colbert, who is kind enough to share himself with us four days a week, and sometimes on the weekends in red spandex.
When you’re between courses during your feast today, or just need to get away from “the fam” as the kids would say, please feel free to enjoy this wonderful episode of Strangers With Candy, “Trail of Tears”, which includes Stephen Colbert in a very cute pilgrim outfit and Andy Richter getting pegged in the head with rocks. Enjoy!

DB, you are so lucky to be down in Dallas – I’m up here in Michigan praying it doesn’t snow for at least one more week!
Ohhh so many things to be thankful for: my family, my fantastic job, the people I work with who have become my second family, close friends who accept me for all of my quirks (which includes my love for Stevie C), and two dogs who bring me nothing but joy. I’m also infinitely grateful for this blog and my fellow Zoners who fill my life with joy every day. Just knowing that there are kind and decent people out there who appreciate Stephen for the good person that he is just as much as I do is a very comforting thing. And of course, I’m thankful for Stephen, who never, ever fails to make me laugh and who makes me want to be a better person. :)
Here’s hoping everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, Zoners!
I don’t have time at the moment to rewatch that SWC episode, but I just had to skip to the end real quickly to catch Stephen dancing in his pilgrim outfit. Too cute.

Happy Thanksgiving! I have been in feverish correspondence with a neuroscientist the last few days, and I am thankful for the astounding research he’s been telling me about that is making me for the first time feel 110% normal. :) Also incredibly thankful for the last couple weeks of Stephen, which has been equally astounding! :)

Hey, “Trail of Tears”! Gotta love the pilgrim outfits, lolz.
I feel like I have so much to be thankful for this year. My family, my friends, our home, the fact that my parents still have jobs, the fact that I get the opportunity to go to college, there’s always food on the table, and we’ve all got our health. Also – I’m so grateful for the friends I’ve made because of TDS/TCR and I’m grateful for what you do, DB, on this blog. <3
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to NFZ, the Completists and Zoners. SWC fans should check out Hamlet 2 (2008) starring Steve Coogan and Catherine Keener(!) — definitely SWC-influenced. Watching it on HBO right now.

I’m grateful for my family, my friends, my job, and many other things. I’m especially grateful to have such an awesome place to hang out with fellow TCR fans, and I’m even more grateful that DB actually trusts me enough to let me post here. ;-)
The Bloggess is massive. She makes me laugh so freakin’ hard. (I can’t believe she didn’t go back for James Garfield…)

This year, I’m thankful that my back is in much better shape, my brandy-new job (and a nice paycheck), the fact that my Mother-in-Law (despite her lousy attitude) is still with us, my wonderful husband, friends and family, and all of you guys who are the only people in the known universe who “get” my love for “Stephen” and Stephen. : )

I am thankful that I didn’t start laughing out loud at church this morning when we sang “The King of Glory”! It was close.
Seriously though, I am thankful for the wonderful world of Stephen Colbert, and all that brings with it – laughter, joy, and the lovely NFZ community. I am very happy to be a part of it.
Happy Holidays, all!

You sang “The King of Glory” in church this morning? Hahaha! You are definitely a better person than I am – I would not have been able to contain my laughter. No, ma’am. Then I would have thought of Stephen doing the dance, which would have made me laugh even more! :P

On a general and relatively superficial note, I’m thankful for having had a lovely and relaxing holiday; there was time to talk to some people I had wanted to catch up with, time to address my usual sleep deficit, time to read a LOT of wonderful books.
On a slightly broader and I hope not too sentimental note, I’m very grateful that I live in a country that, for all its myriad faults, is still one in which ideas and thoughts can be expressed openly. While it is incredibly disturbing that this openness is often used by people voicing hatred and intolerance, the recent events involving the imprisonment of people like Maziar Bahari — whose situation was perhaps exacerbated by his appearance on The Daily Show — remind me that there are far too many places in the world where a voice like Stephen’s could not safely be broadcast.
(And, by the way, I’m really looking forward to seeing Bahari on tonight’s Daily Show, and I’m overjoyed about his being back with his family now!)
