The Daily Show Toss Recap – Week of 11/9/2009

Before we go, let’s check in with our good friend Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report…

Hey, Zoners, there was a Toss this week! I almost missed it — must have wandered away from the TV for a little bit on Tuesday night. Good thing I decided to check TDS’s website or I would have been deprived of the pleasure of some fun character breaks! We seem to be back on a weekly Toss rotation and I couldn’t be happier.

Daily/Colbert – Stephen Will Reveal a Sordid Tale: Stephen reveals a sordid tale that needs to come out into the sun and have its lid blown off.

Poor Stephen barely gets his mouth open before making a flub, and Jon won’t let him forget it, either. And then it turns into a Scooby Doo impression! How did everyone else like this week’s Toss?

thank you so much for this recap
in fact thanks to all the writers at no fact zone. it is such a relief to know that their are people who (dare i say) are even more obsessed with stephen than i am.

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

Loved this Toss! It’s so adorable when they both end up breaking character. =D

  3. SpiritMuse says:

That one was great! It didn’t take long at all for Jon to start laughing, and then you know Stephen’s pretty much doomed as well. I was actually surprised he managed to keep it together for as long as he did!

I always love it when they go off the rails like that! It’s adorable when they make each other laugh.

Thanks so much for posting this!

Whenever there’s a toss, I can’t wait to see how long it takes them to make each other laugh. It was fun to watch Jon bide his time until he could bust Stephen’s chops. Scooby was great (& didn’t he throw in a little Astro there, too?).

  4. Bologna! says:

I noticed Stephen’s ‘Are you ok’ in this toss. Because I remembered this:

At the Jon’s a Downer toss, someone said that as Stephen watched Jon do the Moment of Zen, his chin was in his hand and he had a squinty type of concern in his eyes. Then after Jon signed off, Stephen says ‘I worry about him.’

    Dee-aaWWW! LOL Fan fiction ignition!

Awwww… but did Stephen really watch all the way to the MoZ? Because right after that toss, I remember Jon pimping David Javerbaum’s and Josh Lieb’s books.

      • Bologna! says:

Yes, that’s what he & the TCR audience were watching. Then it ended at the MOZ and Stephen said what he said as he rose to leave.

Apparently the TCR audience only sees Jon on screen, not the split screen of both hosts. Looks like that gets done in post-production.

Awww I hadn’t heard that! He’s so adorkable sometimes I can’t even stand it. And that “Jon’s a Downer” toss is one of my all-time favorites :)

Allow me to add to the “Awwwws.” I read in an article posted on here recently that Javerbaum (and I would assume Jon)are working on a follow up to America the book at the moment. So perhaps Jon is uber stressed right now, hence the worrying from Stephen and the “Are you ok?”

I can’t help it – Awwwww! It really is the most natural response to Stephen’s comment. Thanks for sharing it with us.

They’re so adorable, I can’t even stand it. I love them more than a fat kid loves cake.

  6. Awwww…so sweet and adorable. :)

  7. Roland says:

    Absolutely love it.

I think the natural progression of TDS and TCR is Jon bringing in Stephen as a special correspondent (like O’Reilly does with Beck) for an once a week debate ‘tween them. That would be glorious. If they could take a longer commercial break between the interview and the intro to Colbert and knock out the intro of Colbert and just do a 4 min segment with jon and stephen (play the credits to the left or right while they talk) and afterwards go straight to the intro of TCR that would be awesomeness at its best.
