I keep forgetting the other Colbert-related bit that happened on Wed. I was at Rockefeller Center around 1p and there was a US Olympic festival going on, with exhibits and representatives from several different winter sports. Manning the speedskating booth was Bob Crowley, who we all now know from his appearance on TCR on Mon. I went up to him and said "I understand we're sponsoring you now", and he said "so yor're a member of the Colbert Nation?" We chatted a bit and he gave me a Vancouver 2010 USA Speedskating pin. And as I was leaving 2 staffers from TCR appeared with to give Mr Crowley some of those red Colbert baseball caps with the US Speedskating logo on the back like Stephen was wearing at the end of Thurs. nights show. I want one!

Oh yeah, that was pretty much the GREATEST BIRTHDAY. :-) It actually began on Tues. at TDS, then my actual birthday at TCR, Stand Up for Heroes, and in Times Square watching the Yankees win the World Series with hundreds of crazy happy people. It was really hard to come home and actually go to work on Friday!

Ew. Edit: "guests *they're* having on the show" and "NFZ being son on top *of* the topics..."
I really need a longer edit button time after midnight. I'm sure there's an Ajax workaround for that somewhere. ;-)

Great birthday or GREATEST BIRTHDAY? Thanks for sharing with everyone Gentoo. That sounds like a really special presentation by Stephen. I always enjoy hearing more details about the Baghdad trip (and photos! How cool); in fact that was the question I wanted to ask the Colbert Report writers at their Paley Center event tonight, but I didn't get called on (aw). But I did get Meredith Scardino and Eric Drysdale to sign my sketchbook and the event itself was a lot of fun (Meredith was a riot and Eric told a funny story about breaking one of his Emmys). All the writers seemed very gracious and comfortable with each other. Oh! And No Fact Zone got a big shout-out from Peter Gwinn, who said he's found out about guests their having on the show that week from here. And another writer (who's name I didn't match up with a face; he used to work on the CR website) said NFZ being so on top on topics of and relating to the show was the reason they had to make the official website "not a joke" and more interactive. NFZ is on a roll. :-)
