Hey, wait a minute, that set looks awfully familiar
ByEagle-eyed Zoner Em sent me an e-mail this morning with a crypic message and a very interesting picture:
I am from Vancouver and went to Turkey for a vacation recently. As I was channel surfing, I came across this Turkish talk show. I have no idea what was talked about but doesn’t the set look like the Colbert Report set?
After doing a little digging, it seems that the show is called ‘Ya Şimdi Ya Hiç’ (Translation: Now or Never), and is a Turkish variety show on the Star TV network. They feature a lot of musical guests from what I can tell from the YouTube videos I could find. It’s really amazing how many elements of the ‘Colbert Report’ set they have incorporated – the bookshelves, the news scroll on the bottom of the desk, the monitor, the blue and silver desk shape, even the vertical colored lines and video screens behind the desk. The interview area is a bit more casual, with a couch instead of a table, but the color scheme is the same as the ‘Colbert Report’ set.

Here’s a video from the show, featuring what I can only imagine is the Turkish Lady Gaga and at least one roll of electrical tape.

Ahhhh! Watching that video really creeped me out! “Why are so those silly women on stage and what happened to poor Stephen?!”
Could this qualify as copyright infringement of a set? Turkey is on notice…and I hope Stephen will do the same!
Thanks for this FASCINATING find Zoner Em!

P.S. Em, are you going to the Olympics? You can tell Stephen all about it there?)
I’m hoping a find like this will culminate in another NFZ shout-out on TCR!

How long has the Turkish show been on the air or had that set. Is it possible that the designer of TCR set stole it from them? ;-) The resemblance is uncanny.

That set looks WAAAY too similiar to the TCR set to be a coincidence. I’m thinking that either they may be put On Notice or they’ll be in a Tip/Wag if the show gets wind of this story. Remember that store ad in Iran that featured a Photoshopped pic of Stephen from his Esquire interview? Yeah, that’s what I’m talkin’ about.

That is just crazy, I wonder if the staff at TCR know about it? I’d love Stephen to bring it up on the show, he could have a field day with this! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been to Turkey a couple of times, and all of their shops are rip offs of British or American shops, like they would have a tiny food store and it would be called ‘Walmart’, its really strange lol

Holy crazy-rip-off Batman! I think it’s time to shoot the staff at TCR a nice email about how Turkey is ripping them off…a nice segment in Who’s Honoring/Not Honoring me now perhaps? lol
Way to go Em for finding this! :)

Picture this, while I was totally jet lagged and not being able to fall asleep, I turn on Turkish TV to check out what is on. I couldn’t believe it that I had to take a video off my iPhone.
Colbert is everywhere.

That’s so insanely a rip off of the TCR set. I ‘m really hoping that someone on the staff picks up on this. I want to see a fallout!

Just thinking that, should the show do a bit on this (oh please oh please), Stephen would have a golden opportunity to wear a fez, and that would be a Very Funny Thing.
