You know, Stephen Colbert CAN tie a bow tie …

HAHAHAHAHA!! Watching Stephen fumbling that bow tie just now cracked me up.

But I thought I should remind you all that Stephen DOES know how to tie his bow tie, as evidenced in this video from December of 2006 at the Harvard University Institute of Politics (starts about eight minutes in):

I’m sure you all can sleep better tonight, knowing that Stephen can tie his own bow tie.

(If you want to watch the full Harvard discussion, it’s here. And, clearly, just because you go to Harvard, that doesn’t mean you can spell Stephen’s name.)

It’s a delightfully silly show all the way through, but I’ve got to say, watching Stephen take off his tie and begin to undo his shirt buttons had me transfixed and gasping just a little. Then continuing through the segment with his shirt open had me completely undone! Welcome back!!

Yes, it’s provocative how, well, undressed he looks without a tie.

I think it’s because it’s such a casual contrast to his (‘Stephen’) usual put-together look. It’s seductively come-hither.

Wow, I thought I was lame for feeling this way, but apparently not:) Stephen with a tie is sexy, but Stephen without a tie with a hint of an undershirt is sexy beyond words!

So incredibly happy to know he can tie his own bow tie. Nothing like a man who can do that without a mirror… even if the seal is upside down. <3

I was at the show tonight! Stephen definitely intended to tie it like in the Harvard clip but said we made him nervous and he got stage fright. He tied it on his own during the break (after refusing help)and showed us proudly that he could actually do it. He laughed saying that he had some good jokes if he could of got it tied and that it was like going to the bathroom in a public restroom…sometimes you just clam up.

Ha ha, nice! Thanks for the dirt on the goings on during commercials, that’s hilarious. It reminded me of this, but it’s funny even on its own.

Good–I’m curious if you can elaborate on the post-interview.

Colbert seemed very disappointed with Cornel West–I woulda been too but I knew once Colbert went down the line of questioning that he did that he was gonna lose to West as he is the type who has a ‘stream of thoughts’ and just lets it all out (ref: his appearence on Bill Maher).

In person I got the impression that Colbert actually really liked Cornel West. After the interview Stephen immediately walked around the desk and gave him a hug. Then West smiled and waved at the audience and we gave him a standing ovation. When Stephen finally went back to his desk he seemed pleased and was smiling and nodding at the production staff that was crowded around…he appeared like he was really happy with it.

Thanks again for the clarification — I also thought Stephen looked like he was getting a kick out of Cornel West (I sure was!), and it’s nice to get that confirmation. I think West would be exhausting to listen to in most other settings, but he was an absolute ball on The Report last night, IMO.

The whole show was hilarious last night; you definitely got to see a fun one!

Thanks Katie :) Glad he was happy… Perhaps I just got that vibe because Colby couldn’t get hardly a word in =p

Also the angle from where they cut to commercial was something I found was at an akward angle.

Thanks and hope you had the best of time there!

Aw, I am SO glad you chose this part of the interview because it also features his adorable interaction with the little boy Adam and gives us a glimpse what an awesome dad he must be:)
