Mark Malkoff continues his journey to collect Keys to the City

By DB on October 22nd, 2009 ·

Filmmaker, avant garde comedian, and fantastically sweet guy Mark Malkoff is on the third week of his adventure to collect 100 keys to the city all over the eastern United States. He’s up to 62 keys as of this evening, and he’s made it all the way from New York to Florida to Michigan! In exchange for each key Malkoff receives, he is having mayors assign him small acts of community service. For example Lancaster, PA Mayor Richard Gray had Malkoff clean up after police horses. (Oh yeah, there’s video of that.) Fairfax, VA Mayor Robert Lederer had Malkoff swim in the town fountain to collect coins. Tampa, FL Mayor Pam Iorio had Malkoff volunteer at a kids afterschool program.

Here’s my fave vid so far. It amuses me that not only is this a grown man running down the street in an ice cream costume, but he had to be seen in the outfit by his lovely bride, Christine, who is accompanying Mark on his journey. God bless him, he’s just one of the silliest people I know.

Haha, I love that video. He’s so silly and ridiculous. And I love how the key to the city is basically made of tin foil. lol.

He’s really funny, but how does this correlate with Colbert?

Mark was the Audience Coordinator for the ‘Colbert Report’ for over three years. He just recently resigned the position to do his filmmaking career full-time.

He’s a familar face to many who have been to the show live, and he’s a personal friend of the blog. We enjoy supporting him and his projects, as he has become a part of the No Fact Zone family.

Ah, thank you. I have never been to a live show, I don’t have the money (and I live in FL)

Go, Mark, go! I know he’ll get 100 keys. However could he not? He’s so charming. This is a really fun project he’s doing with a nice combination of volunteerism/community service, driving a hybrid, and silliness.

Mark, came to my city, Tampa! I wish I could have seen him. I told him that and he actually sent me a message on facebook back, Sorry I’ll be missing you in Tampa! Looking forward to visiting tomorrow.
All my best,

I’m very happy for Mark. I have admit that he should consult for television companies. He has incorporated the advertisement for Ford well. Unfortunately since he is not very well known he’s probably gaining little financial funds for this, but he has great ideas.

Mark does know how one needs to market products in the tivo/hulu world, and needs to be a product placement executive.
