‘The Colbert Report’ added to UK iTunes Store

By Ms Interpreted on October 20th, 2009 ·

Life seems to have been a bit of a roller-coaster ride for Stephen Colbert fans in the UK lately. FX UK picked up The Colbert Report, then ruthlessly dropped it; access to the shows online seems to come and go without explanation; and I’ve heard that workarounds for viewing even the embedded clips are unreliable (to say the least).

Well, it’s perhaps not the perfect solution — that would be broadcasting The Colbert Report on More4 immediately after The Daily Show, where it belongs — but from what I’m seeing here, die-hard fans now have at least one more legitimate option: the UK iTunes Store appears to have added our favorite “Fundit” to its offerings. Not being in the UK, I can’t verify just now that this is up and running, but here’s a screenshot of the Colbert Report page I see if I try to get into the UK iTunes affiliate (click the image to enlarge):

I’m sure one or more of our international readers will chime in if they have any trouble with it, but I hope for the sake of the fans across the pond that this works out!

EDITED TO ADD: Looks like episodes of The Report are indeed available. Way to go, iTunes UK, and thanks for the confirmation, Chica!

It is indeed available! £9.99 for a multipass of 15 eps and £1.89 per ep. How much do they charge you in America? We have to pay a lot more for music on iTunes too. But omg, Colbert in the UK! I guess this explains the sudden lockdown on their website. Comedy Central has a UK channel now, why don’t they show it there too?

Congratulations! I have iTunes multipasses for both TDS & TCR. Here in the States, it’s $9.99 for 16 first-run episodes; they don’t do reruns. With both shows on break, I’m watching baseball playoffs (My team’s playing), & catching up on House, Lie to Me, & Bones this week.

So we get charged almost double? Yeah, not surprised.

I hope this works out. Depending on how the admissions process goes, I may be going to grad school next year in the UK. If I can’t watch the show…*silently weeps*

I wish Itunes would go farther back here in the US. I only use it to download shows to my Netbook, but I wanted to get the Movits! episode from July and it was gone already.

Good luck to you in the UK!

Hmmm… looking on the web it seems like if you download from itunes you can only watch on your pc or ipod or other apple product easily (otherwise you need to jump through hoops converting the format and even then it might not work because of DRM issues) Anyone have any experience of this? I don’t want to watch on my pc and I don’t have any Apple products or software (and am even not too keen on downloading the itunes software but I guess that’s going to be a necessary evil). At the moment I get an avi file by other means which I can play on my (4 year old) media player which connects directly to my TV so I’m still not sure this itunes thing is good news for me. I want to watch on my TV. (I guess some people are never satisfied, eh?)

It’s too bad that it costs you guys a lot, but maybe if lots of people buy this iTunes may add Jon ♥

Annoyed we’ve got to pay for it now though, I mean I’ll do it because the alternative of life without my beautiful STC just isn’t worth contemplating, but why can’t TCR be on TV in the UK?
Got no response from FXUK or Comedy Central when I contacted them months ago.
PLEASE someone sort it out so we can watch TCR on tv (Got a bloody massive screen, so it’ll be like having the real Stephen in my living room… stop your mind racing now, lady!!)

Hmm… I wonder if TCR is delivered uncensored in the UK iTunes Store? That would certainly be interesting… Can any UK fans confirm?
