Okay, I have to confess that I’ve never really understood the appeal of Twitter. I know a lot of people love it (including good friends of mine); I’d just never embraced it, myself. Well, I still don’t have an account (or the time to dive into another online activity), but I do have to admit that it’s hard not to appreciate the opportunity to catch people’s Twitter reactions to various situations. Situations like, say, having Stephen Colbert burn you with a hilariously funny “honor”.
No doubt you recall Wednesday’s segment on the assembly of C.O.L.B.E.R.T. and the not-entirely-flattering coverage it got from CNN’s Tony Harris:
| The Colbert Report | Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c | |||
| A Pace Odyssey | ||||
| ||||
Well, it seems our Mr. Harris missed that segment when it aired, but he heard some buzz about it the next day.
Click past the fold to see more.
I love it! I hear that Mr. Harris sent the Colbert crew a little something after he watched the segment, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see whether we hear any further updates on this little feud.

This is HI-larious! I truly hope Stevie C. mentions it on the show next week :)

Ohhh, man. What did he send him?! This had better continue on the air! :D Thanks for doing the investigating on Twitter (which I really don’t see the appeal of either), Ms I!

Given that the subject matter is “in motion,” I’m not so sure I want to know what “it” is! :P

Ms I – I don’t really see the big deal about Twitter either, but I thought you’d be interested in checking out this web-site that I found by accident:
Twitter.com/stephenathome
I believe Stephen’s writing it in character. It seems to be updated at least twice/week and adds extra jokes/humor those during the show. (keep clicking “more” at the bottom of the screen to read all the entries – some are totally hysterical). I thought people would be interested in knowing about it – I don’t know if it’s been advertised

Yes, we’ve mentioned it a few times, and it’s the official Twitter account as linked on ColbertNation.com. Stephen has said that he maintains it with his writers, and the tweets are often jokes that don’t get used in the show.
But thanks for the reminder, for those who might not have been aware of it.

Welcome to the blog, S! The @stephenathome Twitter address was basically hidden for the two months before it went on the front page – it was only up to about 120 viewers after two months. The night after he mentioned it on the show, it went up to 5000, and it’s been growing like a weed ever since.
Also? I was follower #14 or so. :)
It really is funny, though.

DB & Ms. I —
I feel like I should put my tail between my legs and sulk right now – if I had a tail, that is.
I don’t remember Stephen mentioning Twitter but, not knowing anything about it, I probably didn’t pay too much attention.
And I think I’ve been reading this WONDERFUL blog almost since it began but, you all do such a great job, and pack so much in, that I guess I can’t absorb it all.
If it redeems me at all, I’m the one who told y’all about Stephen being on NPR around the time of “Colbert Christmas”…
Keep up the good work and I’ll try to keep up with you :-)
