I love Lego fan art. The piece by guest Nathan Sawaya was breathtaking, and I also loved the Lego Green Screen Challenge and the Colbert portrait. But this is the first time I’ve ever seen the ENTIRE ‘Colbert Report’ desk set replicated in Legos!
Here’s what creator Tommy Williamson had to say about the creation:
- -Is this a real set or something you created?
I built it from scratch.
-How long did it take you to make it?
about a year and a half.
-How many bricks are in it?
I have no idea, truly. Perhaps I’ll make an estimate someday.
-Have you sent these pictures to Comedy Central or Stephen?
yes, I tracked down an email address and sent them.
-How big is it?
About 3 1/2 feet wide
Click on the picture for the high-resolution version. Also, make sure you go to his Flickr set to see high-res picture of the detail that went into the making of this art. My two favorite pieces of detail are the Eagle’s Nest, and the WristSTRONG bracelet and body outline on the floor. Okay, that’s three, but this is SERIOUSLY cool!
Thanks to Tommy for letting me know about his amazing creation, which he will feature at BrickCon 2009 next month!

That is amazing! My favorite detail is that he’s doing “wag of the finger.” Of course, if the creator decides to keep at it, he still has the other side of the set with the table, fireplace, awards, portrait, and a lego guest (maybe Jane Fonda or Richard Branson.)

Ah it’s fantastic but working down to that level of the attention to detail would drive me out of my mind!!
