This post series profiles the wonderful Colbert Completists who work to keep this site the absolute best Stephen Colbert fan site on the internet.
Blogging handle:
VerbalTypo
Age:
16
How long have you been a Completist?:
I signed up to be a completist when the site was remodeled, so since around January?
What’s your No Fact Zone news beat?:
The Fangirl Suit Reports
Occupation:
high school student
When did you first become a ‘Colbert Report’/ Stephen Colbert fan?:
I first remember feeling like a true fan during the Midterm Mid-tacular when the Democrats won, and Stephen had a cake congratulating the terrorists.
What are some of your hobbies outside of blogging?:
I do a good bit of drawing and painting. I also participate in my school’s drama club.
Favorite recurring character on the ‘Colbert Report’:
This is a tough one! Immediately, Tad comes to mind. Esteban is another favorite because I also speak a good deal of Spanish.
What’s your favorite part about participating in the Colbert fandom?:
I was originally drawn to the humor and the wit of The Colbert Report, but once I got deeper into the fandom and I found some old Daily Show stuff, and Strangers with Candy, you see that Stephen really draws from all of his experiences and keeps them in the show. I also quickly found that Stephen out-of-character is an amazingly sweet and intelligent person.
Favorite quote by Stephen Colbert:
“Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us.”
Is there anything else you’d like to tell the Zoners?:
Some of you might know, I got to meet Stephen back in June of 2008, along with Will Smith. I was invited to go to a taping because I sent him a painting around the time of the PA primary.
Your painting is amazing, wow (I love the Doritos in his suit & tie)! I’d love to hear more about how the invitation came about, and your visit to the show :) :)
Also, I adore the Fangirl Suit Reports, they’re always guaranteed to bring a little joy to my week. Many thanks!

You are truly talented! I can draw stick people, but I doubt that would get me an invite to the show! :)
Love the suit reports! They always bring a smile to my face. It must be difficult and time consuming to create those screencaps [I would imagine since I don't know how to do it!] so thank you!
The quote you chose I have posted by my desk for my students to read–it is one of my favorites as well!
Nice job!
