Reminder: Stephen Colbert in current Emmy Magazine

By Ms Interpreted on September 4th, 2009 ·

We posted a while back that Emmy Magazine decided to honor Stephen Colbert and The Colbert Report with the cover they so richly deserved, and we wanted to post one of the photos to remind you all that Rolling Stone isn’t the only magazine out there showing Stephen the love.

Who's your Daddy? -- Emmy Magazine photo by Scott Council

The interview (“Earning His Stripes”, by Andy Greenwald) covers a lot of ground — from the show’s inception and the rise of the Nation, to the WHCD speech and Stephen’s Presidential run, to those brilliant USO shows from Iraq (which impress me all the more as time goes by). And, of course, they cover “Stephen’s” insatiable quest for Emmy glory.

Why? “First and foremost, Emmys are weapons,” he explains. “Physical weapons because, as we all know, they are razor sharp on the wings. And they’re emotional weapons to use against guests because when they’re looking at me right over my shoulder, they see the statue at all times.”

Warming now, he continues. “If they step out of line, I just point over my shoulder and say, ‘Emmy. Do you have an Emmy?’ And if they do, I point to my Peabody. And if they have both an Emmy and a Peabody I try to end the interview as quickly as possible.”

Be sure to pick up your copy of the magazine if you haven’t yet; there are plenty of photos and tidbits for you to peruse while we wait for the return of the shows. Swing by the Emmy magazine site to order one for your very own.

Thanks to Sharon D. for the scan!

It is a good interview and packed full of wonderful pics!!! A bit expensive for a magazine [well, this grad student purchasing a magazine!], but when you factor in shipping, it’s not that bad. I did notice a few on ebay the other day…

Seeing all these mags with Stephen’s short hair, makes me wonder what it will look like when he returns… :)

I’ll have to try and find one around here.

In off-topic news, HuffPo writer is trying to get Colbert as The Riddler, heh. At least we aren’t the only Colbert it-getters.

Yeah, I saw that, Roland. I don’t know when he’d find time to do it, but he would be teh awesome as The Riddler. Perfect, in fact!

Lol–I just thought of this. Imagine Christian Bale and Colbert on the same set. This would never be possible lol…especially after Colbert mocked Bale with Steve Martin.

This magazine article was amazing and definitely worth the money. The pictures are so creative and fun!

Do you know if any of the other pictures are scanned somewhere? I’ve been looking for some good versions to make graphics out of. :)

And don’t forget, the prime time Emmy awards are on Sunday, September 20, at 8:00 pm/7:00 CST on CBS. Let’s hope TCR can snag a few more awards this year! And I’m still upset the Emmy people eliminated the individual performance category. *shakes fist* EMMY PEEEEEEEOPLE!!!!
