Formula 802! Haha! That was pretty hysterical, and so was P.K. Winsome's awkward anti-Obama products. Chris Matthews was really fun, actually, I was a bit surprised. A fun show to go out on!

Three weeks...trying not to think about it.

Let me think, so familiar ... something is eluding me. What does this interview with Stephen and Chris Matthews remind me of? I’ve got it! A couple of jovial, almost boisterous Irishmen getting together at the local pub, each with a pint of Guinness, but there’s a problem: an identity crisis. The one Irishman thinks the other is French because of the second one’s name, but after the French name is explained as an “implant,” the conversation goes back to potatoes and on to three other Irishmen: the Kennedys.

This conversation between Chris Matthews and Stephen, peppered with hearty Irish pub laughter especially by Chris Matthews, was a grand way, me thinks, to head into the 3 week break. The discussion about the irrational behavior of the birthers and attendees at the town hall meetings resulted in remarks from Chris Matthews like, “ You can ride a pogo stick into church, but why would you do that?” Stephen responded, “To get closer to Jesus!” with Matthews quipping back, “’Closer my God to Thee,’ that’s an old hymn.”

The rest of the interview continued in the same vein. When Stephen asked Matthews why Matthews’ documentary wasn’t about the Bushes instead of the Kennedys, Matthews responded that he wanted to have some ratings and some people to watch the show, with Stephen quipping that he missed that good man (Bush). Some banter followed about using documentaries so both could take vacation time. Matthews’ documentary, “The Kennedy Brothers,” would be preempting Matthews’ regularly scheduled program, and Stephen’s would be a documentary for the next 3 weeks about the previous 3 weeks of his shows. The interview ended with Matthews commenting on Stephen’s patriotism in giving up his hair for his country. Stephen said he wouldn’t fight Matthews on that one.

So, let me see now. I can only think of one thing to add to the flavor of this interview to make it better: some Irish pub fare. Okay, ready? Here are my choices:

Boxty (for Chris Matthews the real potato lover): Boxty are thick, belly filling pancakes made from potatoes and often stuffed with meat or cheese (or even more potato); they're a specialty of Donegal but found elsewhere, especially in Dublin.

Shepherd’s Pie (for Stephen): Shepherd's Pie may not be totally Irish, but "British Isles" is close enough, and grand and filling is this casserole of ground beef, carrots, and peas topped with creamy mashed potatoes, then baked.

Both get Guinness Cake for dessert. Guinness Cake is sometimes politely called porter cake since you could make it with any stout, and is basically a dense fruitcake moistened by throwing a liberal amount of beer into the mix.

Yes! Now, I’m satisfied. This interview is now complete and perfect for leading into the 3 week break. Take care, everyone.

Although Stephen's Sound Advice and the Chris Matthews interview were not bad at all, I voted for P.K. Winsome tonight. "Town Hall Hero" absolutely factored into that decision.

I pretty much echo what everyone has said above. PK Winsom was awesome in his interview last night. And I could see a Formula 401 joke coming a mile away during Stephen's Sound Advice - How to make babies (I voted for that). Now it's Formula 802. Must be twice as powerful as 401.

I was really hoping for more character break, but he held it together too well last night. He did enough for the entire week on Tuesday and Wednesday though.

Now we must all lean on eachother for support during the 3 weeks of dark times. No laughter to look forward to every night. Only the knowledge that the time until the next new show shortens every day.

And I'm creating beautiful art work to send in to the show.

Quick correction: Tim Meadows, not Matthews. :)

Great show. "At this point I usually black out" had me in stitches. I'm still in horror that TCR and TDS are reruns the next 3 weeks, but they both left us on a high note. Loved Jon's interview last night.

Ok so, 24 days and 13 hours to go.....

That one made me laugh really hard too! I enjoyed the P.K. Winsome segment, especially all the fun they were having with the stickers, but Stephen's Sound Advice really cracked me up.

Chris Matthews usually irritates me but the interview last night was pretty good. All around, it was a great show to start a long break.

I knew we'd get another Formula 401 as soon as he mentioned the birth rates, but Womb Raider was just too funny.

I was so hoping for a reprise of <a href="http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/49955/january-23-2006/dr--love" target="blank" rel="nofollow">Dr. Love</a> giving us a "Sexplanation"

I was happy to see P.K. again. The Barack-O-Roni made me lol when he held up the box.

And Chris Mathews always makes me laugh, even when I'm disagreeing with him - funny that I can't watch his show.
