Good afternoon! And welcome to our weekly discussion group to talk about Stephen, our lives, our friendships with each other, and pretty much anything you’d like to talk about with other readers of No Fact Zone, what we here affectionately call “the Zoners”.
This week’s brunch is homemade blueberry muffins and Twinning’s Earl Grey Tea. Or, if you’re a Star Trek nerd, Tea – Earl Grey – Hot.
Oh hai there! I hope everyone has had a very restful and relaxing week this week – I know I have. I’ve been on a mini-sabbatical for this past week and a half or so, although you probably didn’t miss me much due to the outstanding job that all the Completists have done keeping up with news, Guides, and weekly posts. So let me start by giving them a round of applause for all of their hard work, allowing me a much needed mental health rest.
We’ve got one more week of shows, and then THREE WEEKS of reruns. Gah! But the Completists have been working behind the scenes the past two weeks getting features set up to keep all the Zoners busy and happy until the show returns. Some of the projects we have planned are:
- Contest Week – We’ve got a whole pile of giveaways, including “Movits!” CD’s, Tek Jansen hardbacks, custom-made fandom jewelry and IAVA swag, and we’re going to do a giveaway a day for a whole week!
- Better Know a Completist – We’re going to do profiles of some of our Completists here so you can know more about some of the people who work so hard to bring you this wonderful Stephen Colbert fan site.
- Klassic Kolbert – Lots of themed posts featuring some of our favorite Klassic Kolbert videos.
- Movies that are Destroying America – We’re going to feature discussion posts about videos featured on the ‘Colbert Report’ and have discussion threads. These will be very similar to our book posts, except instead of reading, we’ll be watching movies and DVDs.
- And one very special “Daily Show” surprise, which we cannot WAIT to share with you, but we will anyway because we’re teases like that.
So, in summary … Hi! *waves*
For discussion this week, let’s just get caught up – what did I miss? And is there anything fun you might like to see during the break? My biggest concern is to keep the wonderful momentum that we have here as a community, to keep us happy and entertained, and hopefully to learn a little bit more about each other!
wow…3 Colbert-less weeks! Thank God we have u DB and all the Zoners…Also, can hardly wait for the Emmys!

THREE WEEKS! OMG, sigh. In addition to the above fun ideas I’d like to see some discussion on Zoners’ other major fandoms, if any. Perhaps we could find something new.

Oh hai! Welcome back. We kept the place all clean and shiny for you. :-)
I think a three-week break is going to drive us slowly insane. At least we can all go there together.

Dude… three weeks. I used the magic of a calendar to figure when the shows are going to start back up and realized that I’m going to be bored only for two of them.
Nice to you back, DB. The Completists did an awesome job.
Can’t wait for the week of give-away’s, even though I won’t win anything.
As for other fandoms….uh… I am part of a Smallville forum and a Psych forum.

Three weeks…I heard about that earlier this week and I still can’t wrap my brain around it. Oy. Luckily, that’s the time period when my classes start up again, so hopefully I’ll be caught up in that for those three lonely weeks.
I really can’t wait, though! It sounds like you’ve got some really, really awesome stuff planned! Can’t wait to see what this Daily Show surprise is! :)
Good to see you, DB!

Welcome back, DB!
I knew the break had to be coming soon, but I know there’ll be fun reasons to keep visiting here. I only have two more weeks of vacation before I have to be back at school, & the kids come the week after that, so I’ll be busy anyway.

Heya DB! Glad you got a lil rest, the completists ahve been doing great work. Much props to them.
As for things to discuss and other things I find fun: There is an aussie show called ‘Rove’ that has quite hilarious interviews. Some are available on the rove website, other clips are on youtube.
The Carell & Hathaway interview was awesome. She showed her true nerd love for the Office. Also, I plan to catch up on some of the old letterman shows from the past month or so. I usually hulu conan & fallon the day after it airs. BTW–Fallon has done a good job imo taking over for Conan.

I like Fallon too, glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. I met him once, nicest sweetest most down to earth guy. I can’t help but root for him.

Also, it saddens me that TCR will be off when the C.O.L.B.E.R.T. is scheduled to be launched. I hope we get an interview once he comes back on the air with someone riding Colbert!

Too bad. Maybe Stephen will go down for the launch during his vacation:)

That would be awesome! I hope that we get some BKAD taped during his break.
What I have not particularly enjoyed was the taped un-colbert interviews being done. The library kid I enjoyed but found it un TCR-ish with the Colbert voice overs.
I hope that during the 3 week break we can get Colbert going to towns and doing odd events. Sorta like the TDS ed helms cooterfest segment.

Three weeks…I noticed one week of shows will be reruns from the Iraq trip so that will be fun to see again–and notice how much Stephen’s hair really has grown since June. :)
Very excited about freebies and new additions! Always a great way to fill in the void…besides preparing for “back to school” stuff like syllabi, grad classes, etc.
Though I would love it if the break wasn’t so long, it makes me so very happy to think of everyone at “The Report” resting, spending time with family/friends and just relaxing/vacationing. They all work so hard to put on quality shows for us night after night–with 10-12 hour days?!?!? Amazing–a truly deserved break/respite. Happy Vacation!

Wow…I wasn’t aware if the three week deal. See, this is what Stephen does; he leaves
me when I start school, when I need a distraction from the world after working hard every day and getting back into a daily groove. Bleh X(
As for news about me, as I mentioned I’m starting school this week, on Wednesday. It’s probably the first time I’m excited to do so, since I wasn’t really ready to end my wondermous Sophomore year. Very excited to see my friends and catch up with them. Been working like a nut all week since the clinic offered me more hours.
I can’t wait for these NFZ fundays, though! That always ends up being the good side to the breaks, that there’s a bunch to look forward to around here.
Hope you had a fabolous break, DB, and it’s good to see you emerging again. I need to crawl back into the midst of te fandom myself. Haven’t been participating much *shame*

O hai, DB! What a time you have planned for us Zoners. The Completists all rocked while you were taking a well-deserved Web break.
I hadn’t realized that the show was taking 3 weeks off. Wow! Although, I think they do this every summer, so I shouldn’t be surprised. They totally deserve and need the break after all the amazing shows they brought us this year.
As someone above posted, Stephen will probably have his hair grown back by then, and everyone will be refreshed.
I’m looking forward to all the fun things you have planned. Contests! Klassic Kolbert! Better Know a Completist! And Movies That Are Destroying America! Strong work, everyone.

Welcome back DB! I hope you feel refreshed and re-energized. Many thanks to all the Completists for keeping things running so smoothly.
Three weeks eh? I suppose I’ll get caught up on sleep and reading. I hope TCR and TDS crews enjoy their time off and get to rest and relax. All the things you have planned sound great! I’m looking forward to them. :-)
Other fandoms…. I’m not an “official” member of any other fandoms. I post on the TDS forum occasionally. I really like Michael & Michael Have Issues but all I do about that is watch the show. Free time is scarce for me.

Three weeks?!? *sigh* Wow, that’s gonna be a long one. I’m glad you enjoyed your break, DB, and are all rested and refreshed now. We all know how much time and effort (and love) you put into the blog (just like everyone on the TCR staff puts into the show) so I know a nice long break was long overdue and well deserved. Glad to have you back! Looks like I’ll have to actually start using my Netflix membership for what it was intended. LOL!

I know I’ve sent this to you via email already, but I thought I’d leave the message here, too. WELCOME BACK!
P.S. Regarding your “tease” … you devil, you! :)

Welcome back DB!
Yes 3 weeks is a long break and I guess everyone’s kids are back to school now or soon? But I guess they time it to coincide with the Congress vacation. I’m sure it’s a needed rest. 10 to 12 hour days certainly seems like too much to me. For some reason I really liked the last toss with Stephen saying how tired he was. Somehow it was a comic look on what they all must be feeling.
I’ve actually kept a lot of DVR-d Reports over the last few months so I am sure I’ll be revisiting some of those!
