And the Emmy (magazine cover) goes to …

Well, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences seems to have had its trouble recognizing Stephen Colbert with an actual Emmy statue for his wonderful performances, but I’ll give them credit for honoring him with their magazine cover. You can order yourself a copy of the magazine by clicking here or on the photo.

Emmy please!

Kudos to the Comedy Central Insider for pointing this one out (and for pretty much ensuring that I’ll be parting with $8 so I can see the accompanying article in the near future).

I know EMMY magazine is available at select bookstores, for those who don’t want to order online. A Barnes & Noble in my city carries it, as does an independent newsstand. I think the cost is less than $8 in the store, though I wouldn’t swear to it. I bought a copy a couple of issues back when Denis Leary was on the cover, but don’t recall what I paid.

In the picture above near the lower left-hand corner, it looks like it sells for $4.95 at the newstands!

thanks for the info SD, there are some bookstores nearby with pretty extensive magazine selections, so I’ll give that a try!

I like that pic too, it’s yet another America-obsessed version of Colbert, but I don’t think there’s been anything QUITE like it before. :)

Great cover picture! Does anyone know if this is out now or if it will be coming out on a certain date? I didn’t really see anything on the website. I want to check out Barnes & Noble and see if they might have it before ordering it off the website.

ABsolutely awesome cover, and he’s been on some great ones before. I just ordered it, and will have to frame it and add it to my collection on the wall. I really love this cover.

Right now I have the Colbert/Spiderman comic, the Entertainment Weekly, and the Esquire cover framed on the wall in my home office/guest bdrm.

Did you order through the email? How do you specify that you want issue #4?

I asked for the cover with Stephen Colbert on it. Both in my subject line, and my e-mail text. I hope they don’t screw it up!

Okay, I wasn’t sure how to tell them because it didn’t say you should include the issue # you want. Hmm…I may do it over the phone – I’m too nervous!

          Thanks for the reply. :)

HA! I’m right there with you. But I have the New York magazine cover, the GQ cover, the Wired cover and…something else I can’t remember hanging up!

I’m totally getting this, I just need to figure out where.
Does anyone does the date it comes out? So I know when to start my quest.

Out of the other covers I have, the only one I remembered to get when it came out was Esquire. I ended up searching the InterWebs for EW and Spiderman because I forgot to get them when they came out.

Love it. He’s lookin’ mighty tan :). His left hand looks kind of unappealing though.

WANT! An absolute must have. Ironically, he’s on the cover of such a periodical right after they discontinued his category for individual performance. Maybe the guilt will set in and the Emmy people will add it back for next year.

Love his expression and looking forward to Jon/Stephen’s hilarious schtick at the Emmys, it’s the highlight of the show (except for their winning Emmys of course).

OK, I absolutely LOVE Stephen, but getting back to his Newsweek Cover debate for a sec, I don’t understand why they always have photograph him in funny/silly poses, when he does take such great pics with his beautiful face! This said, I’d totally buy that magazine, just like I did Newsweek! :)))

I bought the magazine last night at my nearby newsstand (yay for being in L.A.!) and I must say that about 95% of the article is nothing new to Zoners. We know he’s from South Carolina, has three kids, got his head shaved, etc. However, the author does start out the article by observing how tired poor Stephen is:( The interview was conducted right before his break around the 4th of July (after 14 weeks of shows including Iraq!). The pictures are very creative, but I must say my favorite is a two-page spread which shows the more contemplative Stephen sitting down in exhaustion while watching the more exuberant “Stephen” with hand-over-heart.

Considering this is the Emmy magazine and the pictures are fun, I would buy it. However, I agree with Dee that it would be nice to see the real Stephen more often than not. Never shall I forget that Vanity Fair shot:)

recaptcha: attend both (must Stephen attend the Emmys both in and out of character?)

I was looking at the Barnes and Noble website and you can “see inside” and view the latest issue:
    http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Magazine/Emmy-Magazine/e/2000003572168usri=1

There is a full page picture of Jon and Stephen (pg 33) during the Barry Manilow bit, when Stephen’s hand is on Jon’s shoulder. I want to get that issue just for that full size picture! <3

I called Barnes and Noble, and the lady said they didn't have the emmys magazine. I imagine she just typed in "emmy" and nothing came up on her computer, but she didn't sound very sure, so I might just stop at the store myself to double check.

That link no longer seems to go anywhere, but I can tell you that the actual magazine does not have a full page photo of Stephen and Jon, though there are several nice photos. Page 33 is an ad.

I just went to that link and I can’t find that one. It looks like they just have the new issue up there. How can I order the one with Colbert?

I just looked at my email and got the same message.

Do you think there is any chance that Barmes and Noble wwould have it too? I am going to one with my Mom tomorrow for birthday ideas. If they have it, I might just get it there and see if I can cancel the order.

Hmm. I hope that you can find it. Neither my Barnes & Noble, nor my Borders had the magazine. They don’t even carry the magazine at all. So, I’m really hoping that this order goes through!!

My local Barnes & Noble or Borders don’t carry this magazine either, so I just ended up ordering it through email.
