This “birther” movement just gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on. Has everyone visited RobertGibbsistheZodiacKiller.com already? It’s just a placeholder site, but it makes me laugh. The smiling woman in the stirrup right behind Stephen in the birthing room was so distracting, in a good way.
The Orly Taitz interview was unbelievable. You may have read our spoiler alert about her interview here a few days ago. The line “Barack Obama is a terrible president, and we need to get him out of office by any weird loophole we can make up” reminded me of a line that Stephen said in his Paley Center interview about a field piece he conducted with the people who said that orange juice makes you gay. He said a cameraman said to him, “I’ve worked for 60 minutes for 25 years, and I’ve never seen a hit that clean.” And this whole interview was filled with hits that were seriously clean.
What did you think of the interview with Arianna Huffington? And did you find Taitz as insane as I did? Leave it in the comments!
- Oh, just because he’s a police officer, he drinks beer! What if he prefers a Pinot or a single malt scotch with his jelly donut?
- In Officer Crowley’s defense, Gates’s fingerprints were everywhere.
- Exactly, a teachable moment. Obama is teaching that if you arrest a black man under questionable circumstances, you get to have a beer with the president.
- There are a lot of questions facing the country right now, like why can’t a monkey get a driver’s license? He passed my home obstacle course.
- Of course, Gibbs has his own secret. You can read all about them at my $15 web site, RobertGibbsistheZodiacKiller.com. That was worth every penny.
- There is a high volume of presidential fraud claims, in that they’re being yelled at a high volume.
- It’s as worthless as this Federal Reserve note. If this was money, it would have “Money” written on it.
- Ew, Guam? No, no.
- Finally, we’ll have something more reliable than a government government – someone willing to say something for $10,000.
- At any time did you hear the phrase King Kamehameha or Book ‘em Danno?
- Boom! Both parents have to be citizens. Now, that may not be in the constitution. But it is a basic fact taught to every school child growing up with Ms. Taitz in the Soviet Union.
- Barack Obama is a terrible president, and we need to get him out of office by any weird loophole we can make up.
- I don’t like that term “birthers”, it implies that Obama was birthed.
- Wait a second, Barack Obama is Connecticut vampire?
- Mutton chops? Do you know what that do?
- Chester A. Stalin.
- Arianna Huffington: Actually, I was born in the United States, and then I cultivated this accent to give myself an air of being an ethnic minority.
- You never break character? That must be hard.
- More pigs? Who’s the fresh bacon in this?

Orly is the perfect name for that woman. I was just incredulous the whole interview.
I have never been able to do that hand trick that Stephen did at the end of the show.

I absolutely have to watch the episode again. I just can’t wrap my head around all that was said. I don’t want to say “crazy” but I can’t think of anything else. Crazy-strange, crazy-bizarre, crazy-funny…I don’t know–all I guess. The one thing I do know is that only Stephen could pull off that interview. He has such an amazing gift for being quick-witted and intelligent–does his brain ever stop? I am afraid it might explode! :)

Oh man that interview with Orly was just crazy! I heard that it was really edited down, so I hope either they release the whole thing online, like The Daily Show does, or that somebody was at the show who can tell us what else was said. Is it just me or was Stephen even a little bit angry, especially at her saying we should dig up Obama’s father?

“In Absentia” from here and the CN messageboard was at the taping last night and said the interview with Taitz was pre-taped so they didn’t see anything more than those of us watching at home. She said Stephen told them he interviewed Taitz for over an hour and it was pure insanity. The woman is bats**t crazy and he handled the interview very well. He egged her on a bit and let her make a complete arse of herself. That whole Womb Raider segment was hilarious!
I always love the interviews with Arianna Huffington! They play off each other really well and it’s so much fun to watch.

It really looked like Stephen was angy. Hell, I’m angry. She really is crazy. I can’t believe the stuff she said. Just. wow. Stephen nailed her.

Who hear liked this part
“You never break character? That must be hard”
I could see wheels turning then.

What a show. That woman (Taitz) … wow, just wow.
I think my favorite reaction to the show was on someone’s Twitter feed last night (sorry, can’t recall exactly whose). It said something along the lines of: “watched colbert drunk tonight. confused by arianna, then realized she wasn’t taitz.” HAHAHAHA!! Given one of Stephen’s tweets, it’s even funnier.

LOLZ on both counts. I was also thinking about how similar they were in voice and appearance when I was watching. Except that Taitz horrifies and offends me, and I respect Arianna Huffington.

I actually felt uncomfortable with the Taitz interview because, conservative or liberal, the guest usually knows that Stephen is playing a character. She didn’t and I think she may literally be crazy. Not sure if they should have had her on the show in that case. I mean, I don’t think anyone, conservative or liberal, believes that Obama is the equivalent to Hitler of Nazi Germany.

Since Stephen warns his guests that he plays an idiot and it looks like commenters at her blog were warning her, too, I wouldn’t feel too sympathetic.

Nah, she gets it. From her blog: “it is a comedy show, the guests are typically roasted and the host is liberal…keep in mind that I’d rather be a puching bag…and provide some information to the public, then worry about my ego..”
However, this comment from her blog made me lol: “Colbert was informed funny and sympathetic.” Haha, oh dear.

Thanks guys. You’re right. Sounds like people warned her, but if you’re crazy, can you comprehend satire?

It looks like someone had informed her about the fact that he plays a character, but she hasn’t seen the show if she thinks he was “informed and sympathetic”.

That Orly lady is …. really… crazy. That’s all I can think of to describe her.
Stephen was really awesome during that interview.
That being said, the Womb Raider segment was hilarious and I really like whenever Arianna Huffington is on the show.

I love Arianna! Great banter between her and Stephen. :)
Dr. Orly Taitz, Esq. is. INSANE.

The Arianna Huffington interview is the first one in a long time that has made me go “Awwwwww” when it was over — I wanted more!
Orly Taitz is seriously nutsy-cuckoo. The best thing you can do with people like that is give them a platform and let them show how crazy they are. She completely discredited herself and her entire movement (which was not really “credited” to begin with).

So true. We just have to sit back and watch them make fools of themselves. Stephen did exactly that.
P.S. I enjoyed Stephen’s Bollywood dance at the beginning. :)

PART II – AN ANATOMY OF A PERFECTLY, PERFECT COLBERT REPORT INTERVIEW (with Arianna Huffington).
When I grow up, and if talented enough, accomplished enough, dishontest enough, corrupt enough, morally depraved enough, etc., that someone would want to interview me on a talk show, I would like to come off having the air, manner, effortless self presence (you pick) of Arianna Huffington during interviews.
Her humor, retorts, wise cracks, and general ability to give and take during an interview allow an interviewer, especially someone so adept and expert as Stephen, to pick up and toss the ball back and forth for an absolutely funny and entertaining interview. The pace was so buoyant and quick . Stephen thoroughly enjoyed himself and found it seemingly so easy to create questions and witty responses to everything she said.
Very recently I said that Zev Chafets in his interview with Stephen (his book, COOPERSTOWN CONFIDENTIAL – just began reading it) was a great interviewee because Chafets “played along” and peppered his part of the interview with attention getting ideas for Stephen to work with. This interview with Arianna Huffington was even better, much smoother, better paced, cleverer with both Arianna and Stephen having a good time conversing together. This certainly was the perfectly, perfect Colbert Report interview.

oh my god, that woman is such a complete nutjob.
how…does she survive every day life? seriously?!
i have to watch that again to see if i can try to tell just what she was saying…
65 million people died in the holocaust. when i read numbers earlier, around maybe 17 million were executed by the nazi’s. and since when do both parents have to be us citizens? if this was the case, so many people wouldnt be doing whatever they could to have their children born in the US.
she makes my head spin. wheres my advil? no…not the excedrin… what? they’re a sponser too?

Orly Taitz is nuts. Clearly. And Stephen *did* seem pretty ticked off when she said something about digging up Obama’s father. Yikes. I really don’t know if she thought that was real or…what?
But the Arianna Huffington interview made up for it. :) And “Womb Raider” was pretty hilarious!
