Belated welcome to new ‘Colbert Report’ writer Max Werner

Max Werner - TCR

I’m kicking myself for not noticing this earlier but, between the speed at which the credits roll, the truncated credits that often run when the show is pressed for time, and the break week, I failed to notice until just recently that a new writer, Max Werner (above, with Stephen), is listed for our favorite show. Congratulations, sir!

With a little digging and the help of “the internets”, I’ve discovered that Mr. Werner is a former copywriter for Duncan/Channon, who had this to say about him:

Alumni news: Colbert Report takes D/C castoff

. . .

Toby/Max was green as a tree frog with swine flu when he arrived at our august institution, straight from four years at some Slacker U. on Harvard Square. D/C-style tough love helped transform the callow amphibian into a prince of an advertising scribe, yet a mere five years later he was told, in no uncertain terms, to get out and stay out. Well, after he announced he was going to Hollywood to be a screenwriter (good luck with that!).

Heh — nice to see his ex-colleagues had such a great attitude about the move, huh? If you want to know more about the knuckle-less Max, you can check out this informative YouTube clip.

A belated congratulations on landing such a great gig, Mr. Werner, and thanks for doing your part to keep us all laughing!

That YouTube video was so adorable and funny….just like Stephen! Aw…I’m so glad they hired him! Weclome Max! Does this mean that the TCR staff requires a video in addition to written material for submissions…or is Max just creative?!

Now who’s Opus Moreschi? I caught that name in the credits as well.

I loved the YouTube video! This guy seems to fit in nicely with the Colbert Report comedic mentality.

Um…that screencap…was he *on* the show? How did I miss that?

It was June 16, when Stephen ordered the audience to take their pants off (in order to break the Biggest Jeans World Record). Max plays the lawyer standing ominously behind Stephen, who’s set the record for the world’s fastest class action lawsuit.

When did you go to a taping? I’m trying to figure out which episode featured Max Werner.

I love this video. I think it should be required of every writer to have a Youtube video atleast for our enjoyment when they get hired. I commented on that great video and slipped in a wish for a shoutout to us and TruthPower if it is ever possible. There is probably atleast 1 in 1000 percent of a chance that that will happen. Fingers crossed though. ;-)

Do you guys think it’s pronounced like Werner von Braun (A ‘V’ sound instead of a ‘W’ sound) or more like it’d be pronounced in English?
