By Ms Interpreted on July 16th, 2009 ·

Well, they may have eliminated individual performance, but at least we’re weaseling into some new categories! I’ll be watching faithfully, as always. Best of luck to the amazing people who make me so happy every night!

I still cannot believe there are so many noms available for reality series but they eliminated the only category that other (ie proper!) show hosts can be nominated in. It’s ridiculous.

Whoo hoo! I could not be more excited about ‘Colbert Christmas’ getting TWO noms! Fantastic! And I love that David Javerbaum’s favorite song got nominated, too. That warms the cockles of my heart.

And of course, I cannot wait until the Emmy writer montage. That is always a total hoot, and it’s great to see our favorite crew being silly in front of a national audience.

Emmy night is always one of the most fun of the year, and we’ll be sure to be live blogging it!

Totally agree; that was my first thought (about DJ Javerbaum), too.

And congrats to the Daily Show folks, too; they got a lot of worthy noms.

Actually, it looks like “A Colbert Christmas” received 3 nominations! I can’t imagine this not winning for art direction. Far more unique and thoughtfully done than the other ones!

Also, I’m thrilled that “There Are Much Worse Things to Believe In” was nominated for best song. My favorite. OH! Could this possibly result in a duet by Stephen and Elvis Costello during the show? Pretty please!!!!!

I would love to hear a Stephen/Elvis duet at the Emmys!

I am still not a happy bunny about the individual performance thing.

If TCR doesn’t get Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series this year, I’ll eat my hat. Or I would if I owned a hat.

Do they show the best song category on air? I hope so! I know some categories are done at a different time.

I loved it last year that The Colbert Report won best writing and The Daily Show won best show. Maybe this year it’ll switch? I like it when both shows go home happy! :)

The Emmys seem to have a time lag when it comes to recognizing great shows. Finally, in it’s 5th season, TCR is on their radar. I especially hope Mr. Javerbaum’s song for the Christmas special wins along w/ TCR as outstanding variety/music/comedy series, it’s a great song.

aside: OT I’m really ticked that True Blood got snubbed. /OT

Awesome! I can’t wait for the awards this year, that’s so cool that A Colbert Christmas is getting a nod. Congrats to all the TCR folks as well as the TDS folks too! :D

Yay! The Colbert Crew is in a lot of nominations with The Report and A Colbert Christmas! I hope A Colbert Christmas earns at least 1 of its Emmys.

Remind me what happened with Best Individual Performance again? Did it just get axed or was it replaced with something else?

Well it’s great to see all those noms for TCR and the Christmas special and I love the selection for best song too.

What *were* they thinking though eliminating the best variety performance award? It’s just plain crazy when they keep trashy stuff like best reality show host! Not to mention all the great acting Stephen does as well.

I would love to see TCR win the show award this time – I really hope it doesn’t go to SNL – NBC’s been running it in prime time to give it extra publicity. I hope TCR wins though!

I’m sure Stephen and Jon will come again with all these noms. They should have fun with their non-host-nomination status.

At least I’ll have reason to watch. Some of my fav shows, like Law and Order CI, have never been nominated at all, and I get steamed!
