Six Degrees: John Oliver Edition
By![]()
It hasn’t been very long since the last Six Degrees, but this John Oliver news is time sensitive, and I imagine it would be of interest to very many of you as you plan your summer weekends!
John Oliver (Correspondent, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) will be appearing at the Comix in New York City on Friday, July 24, Saturday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26. There will be two shows each night. You can visit this page to get further information and buy tickets.
Although it is indeed rather expensive, I highly recommend this show! Comix is relatively small, which gives it a very pleasant atmosphere. You are seated at tables as at a restaurant, but they’re arranged so you can see the stage.
It should go without saying, but if you need to be reminded that John Oliver is a very funny individual, please enjoy this clip from his Comedy Central special Terrifying Times.

I hope you really enjoy that. I know that he is really funny. I love this Terrifying Times clip. I wish I was as lucky as some people here and could do this kind of stuff.

Go see him if you can. He did stand up in Nashville and was hee-larious!

You were at the Nashville show? wasn’t it fantastic? My absolute favorite part was when John attempted to do a redneck “whoop” and hurt his throat, as well as our ears. Never forget him looking at me and saying “sorry!”
If you have doubts about going to see him, don’t. He’s masterful on stage.

I’m definitely going, but I haven’t picked a date yet. I saw him (along with a few other TDS people) at Comix two weeks ago and he was so funny.
At the Daily Show and Friends thing I went to, I got to meet Wyatt Cenac after and he was so nice! Its a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. It is a little expensive, but I think its worth it.

I hadn’t confirmed it when I made this post (and it’s not supposed to a be a Tiger news special anyway), but I’ll be attending one of these nights too! I, like Sara, have seen John at a TDS and Friends before (and loved it!) but I think it will be extra fantastic to see his entire show. I need to start exercising my laughing muscles now!

hi Tiger! just wanted to report I saw the TDS Bonnaroo shows, which were fantastic. John absolutely killed, especially when he ranted about the un-eco-friendly air conditioning in the tent. Plus I went backstage (backtent?) and gave Rob Riggle, John, Wyatt and Rory each a string of Mardi Gras beads. They were all so nice and genuine, as well as incredibly funny. (Anyone else at Bonnaroo? I need help remembering details…)
