Emmy awards moved to back to September 20 – and rumors abound about the Emmy host

The LA Times is reporting that the Emmy awards for 2009 are back to their original date of September 20th. But that’s not the interesting part. It’s the rampant rumormongoring at the end of the article that caught my eye:

No host of the Emmycast has yet been named, but there’s widespread speculation that the eye web will chose one of its network stars Neil Patrick Harris, who recently emceed the Tony Awards and TV Land Awards successfully, or Craig Ferguson. Stephen Colbert is also a possibility since CBS and Comedy Central are both owned by Viacom. In a recent Gold Derby poll, our readers preferred Colbert and CBS/ Comedy Central star Wanda Sykes.

Well yeah, we’re going to watch it anyway, but that would be a lovely surprise, I think. Also, I’ve been dying to use that screencap for two days now.

The question is, in-character, or not? Or a bit of both?

I hope it’s Stephen. If he does host, I’m pretty sure that he’ll be in-character. =D

If he is chosen I am sure he will have a lot to say about the Emmy committee dropping his individual performance category!!! Could be fun!

    Colbert and NPH co-hosts, anyone?

A duet would be required, of course.

Aww that would be great! When will they announce the host?

Apart from that, I think the hosting can’t be worse than last year. That was so boring and awkward.

Craig Ferguson is way ahead in the the Gold Derby poll. I just voted for him, because as much as I love the others, I’ve seen them borrowing Craig’s material time and time again. He’s an original, a gift that gives forever. Go Craig!
