Oh, how the Nation loves character breaks
ByOne of the things that made last night’s ‘Colbert Report’ such a pleasure to watch was the endless character breaks by Stephen. When his joy bubbles over to the point where he can barely get through a show due to his giddiness, that energy is most definitely contagious.
To catch an even larger dose of Character Break Fever, watch these two lovely fanvid compilations. Just try to watch both vids without getting a silly smirk smeared all over your face – I dare you!

Thanks to all of the fangirls over at the ColbertNation.com boards who reminded me of these lovely videos.

Sometimes those little character breaks make my whole day. And character breaks that include cursing will make me laugh myself silly every single time.

I love those character that he always has. Rather it’s because he got frightened by “Shoutouts” or if he messes up a pronunciation of a word, I love his smirk or grin he always has on his face.

before he finished the first item in last night’s intro, i said to myself, “he’s not going to make it.”
when he announced “cheating death,” i knew it was over. he just barely makes it through that feature on a good night.
by the time he hit us with “spay & noodle” i was crying with laughter.

Was “spay and noodle” a mistake? My brother and I were dying by the time he got to that!! LOL.

Will someone please tell me from which episode the break shown in the first video at about 1:43? It’s the one about losing a fifty dollar bet.

Thanks for posting Di’s video, I hadn’t seen that before. I’m a big fan of SJ’s video, it’s my favorite Stephen vid, so great with the details. Apparently SJ spent a year and a half putting it together!

Love, love, love the character breaks! He is adorable. And I like what Wren said above – they’re like liquid love.
Spay and noodle killed me, as did all the side effects.

Love the character breaks! Bear book smoothie! I especially love it when Jon and Stephen crack each other up. Their smiles are so wide and bright and they’re so adorable! And that OMG! SPACE! segment! Liquid love is right! :)

Ahh, the bear-book smoothie. I think it’s my favorite character break of all times. There’s something about Stephen swearing that just makes me crumble with laughter. Thanks for reminding me how wonderful character break fanvids are. : )

Character breaks are where Stephen’s charm-o-meter goes off into the red zone, it’s irresistible. The OMG Space one takes the cake for me cause he is so personally thrilled there, it’s heartwarming.

Oh God, what I wouldn’t give for an uncensored version of the bear book smoothie Threatdown (also because earlier in that same Threatdown Stephen is waving a, uh, grownup toy around).
He has the most infectious grin and laugh. No matter how many times I see the Banana Incident I laugh until I can’t breathe.
