Does anyone else hear that strange honking noise?
This was great. I loved hearing the anecdotes about his father. He really gave these graduates some nuggets of wisdom. I love his commencement speeches – I loved Knox College and I loved this one, or what we saw of it. I think the best thing that could happen to me at my graduation would be for Stephen to come to my university. Unfortunately, this is very unlikely. :P

The video was recorded on someone’s cell phone, I’m guessing, and the horrible noises are the phone ringing on vibrate setting. Super annoying.

I thought the honking was a vibrating phone, but I ruled it out when it consistently honked twice every time. You’d think the person would wise up by the 2nd or third repetition and silence it on the first honk from then on.
A very interesting speech. An emotional, deep speech about the frailties of humanity at a medical college graduation. I wouldn’t say it was exactly inspiring, but it was definitely something else.

This was a great speach and I was there this morning. The noises were a cross between ambulances at the hospital and the wind. The humor and message were great and it was great hearing about his family connection to MUSC.
