Weekend Brunch
By
Good afternoon, Zoners! And welcome to our weekly discussion group to talk about Stephen, our lives, our friendships with each other, and pretty much anything you’d like to talk about with other readers of No Fact Zone, what we here affectionately call “the Zoners”. Today’s brunch is courtesy of Opening Bell coffeehouse in the Mosaic building, right here in lovely downtown Dallas, TX – fresh Columbian brewed coffee, and a fresh bran muffin topped with oatmeal.
First, a little tooting of our No Fact Zone horn here. Today, our blog reached a milestone – we have now officially had over 2,000,000 unique visitors to the site! We’ve also had over 3,700,000 page views and are averaging 3,053 visitors and 4,968 page views per day. Yay, Zoners, for making this place such a fabu place to visit for all of your Stephen Colbert fan needs!
The thing about blogging, no matter what the topic, is that it’s very cyclical. Sometimes all I want to do is sit in front of my computer and blog all weekend long, and other times I’m praying for a dark week just so I can get some sleep and play catch-up on things like housecleaning and spending time with a very cute boy (a.k.a. my husband). The news cycles also tend to be cyclical – either we’ve got 10 posts a day or we’re posting Klassic Kolbert videos for days in a row just so you guys don’t forget about us.
This happens to be one of those magical weekends where I both have the desire to blog until I drop, and there’s also a ton of things to blog. I was sent the story of the guy who won the StandUp2Cancer’s fondue lunch with Stephen to post, and there’s a lovely new comedy writing piece from Frank Lesser that is waiting to be posted as well. In addition, I need to get some behind-the-scenes projects done as well.
I should also do some laundry, which I will most definitely do. After I blog a bit more. And I take a relaxing Saturday afternoon nap with my kitties.
So here’s my question for all of you Zoners to get the conversation flowing today:
What’s your favorite “costume” that you remember Stephen wearing on ‘The Colbert Report’?
It can be something simple, like the Joy Down pastel outfit or that delicious Hungarian jacket, or something a bit more elaborate, like this week’s Romulan Stephen Colbert. Let’s walk down Memory Lane and remember some of our favorite outfits of ‘Colbert Report’ episodes past.

I love the outfit he wore when he was dance-dueling with Rain. Mesh shirts with dog-tags printed on them are the best, and who doesn’t love tight red pants? And the sunglasses over the glasses put it right over the top.
I also really loved it when he was trapped in that dungeon on caffeine withdrawal with a chain around his neck… Needless to say, there’s no erasing that image from our minds.
I can probably think of a few others I got a good kick out of, but those would have to be my top 2.

And I did’nt know where to do it. so, yeah:D an army outfit looks great on him aswell;)

Hmmm…choosing just one seems like an insurmountable task. Does the gas mask and rifle from Project 10/31 count as a costume? I also enjoy Esteban Colberto’s wardrobe and let’s not forget about the warm and fuzzy getup from A Colbert Christmas. I guess I’ll have to choose all of them. : )

Welcome to NFZ, Ullygirldk! This is (IMO) the best place to be a Stephen Colbert fan.
DB, congratulations on your 2,000,000th visitor! Thank you to all the NFZ Colbert Completists and Zoners who make (and have made) this site the exemplar it is.

I like when Stephen wore the Roman outfit. And when he wore the pilot hat and shoulder things, he looked super cute.

Yes, the Roman centurion outfit gets my vote for absolute favorite.
Outfit that freaked me out the most: the sparkly blue thingy that Feist gave him. Sequins are so not him.
reCAPTCHA: the pantsuit. LOL.

my favorite costume has got to be from April of last year when Stephen wore that sparkly blue number, the same one Feist wore in her “1,2,3,4″ video. that moment definitely made my life. But no doubt there have been other great moments in Colbert costume history.

DB, congrats on the new stats! Of course, with a site this good, you don’t need another;) Call me an elitist, but I love Stephen in a tux. Oh, I also loved him in his cowboy hat, sans glasses, during the “A Cold, Cold Christmas” number. I’m liking him as G.I. Stephen as well;)

I agree, Stephen was made to wear a tux. But he looks just FINE in camo! The blue FEIST tube top and centurion gear were great too.
Congrats on 2mm hits! Very impressive DB!

My vote goes for the Roman centurian armor as well. That was impressive!!
I also am endlessly amused by the Christmas special outfit — I was just thinking about it today and chuckling, actually! I think the thing that makes it so great to me is how intentional it was – I think I saw/heard an interview with him at that time and someone asked him what he remembers most from the Christmas specials of his youth, and he said with so much emphasis, “oh, the *outfits*!” Hee.
that recent american flag sweater was pretty hideously amusing too! and of course, the Rain dance-off outfit that someone mentioned above. There really are quite a few to choose from!

Congrats, DB, on your 2,000,000th visitor! How great! This *is* the best place on the Web, IMHO.
On to the costumes. Hmmm. As has already been mentioned, Esteban Colberto and all the costumes from the Christmas special were great.
I also adore his look in the Charlene video. That might be my favorite. The hair, the eye make-up, the clothes!
Oh, also when he ripped his sleeves off for Guitarmageddon was great, too. Way too many to choose from! What a fun topic!
Oh, and of course, Singing in Korean.

Thanks! I can’t believe I had forgotten about that one.
Anytime Stephen’s in a tux is fine. I also love when his hair is a more relaxed style – Stephen rather than “Stephen.”

WOW! Awesome stats for the site! Congrats!! :D
Hmm…a Colbert costume, eh? I’m a big fan of the Christmas get up, as well as the Romulan thing he did this past week. I liked the gas mask thing for the 10/31 project, and the cowboy outfit he wore to sing with Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
OOH! And someone mentioned this – STEPHEN IN HIS BOXERS. That was my fave, definitely. :P

Oh yes! How could I have forgotten the outfit during Crosby, Stills & Nash (and sometimes Young). I do enjoy the cowboy look for reals.

Hahah. “Sometimes Young”…that was perfect. :P
Gotta love some fringe on Stephen! Too bad the site had to take down the video because of song copyrights, I want to see that now!

Well, actually, if you jet on over to Colbert University’s music course, there is a link there that *might* just have what you’re looking for. : )

I agree with all of you that he can make anything look good that it’s really hard to pick a costume, but the ones that stood out for me would be Stephen in a tux with Peter Earnest, Rain dance-off outfit, suit hoodie for his throwdown with Michael Steele, the makeup in his Remix video, Joy Down outfit, Esteban Colberto costumes, his flag sweater, and the sweater in the Christmas special.

OMG. I loved his winter attire in the Christmas special, his pinstriped hoodie, and the G.I. uniform. I guess he can pull off any look really. :D

Oooohh! Fun topic! I agree with tux, boxers, roman/gladiator outfit and I would like to add [even though I think this is only a partial costume] the bedtime hat he wore at the end Rush’s episode, when he pulled out the pillow as well. Too cute. He can pull off almost any look!
