The folks at The Daily Show have been up to so many different things lately. Here is a quick rundown:
Demetri Martin (former contributor, The Daily Show)
- Demetri Martin has two bits of exciting film-related news!
- Demetri will be playing a baseball statistician of a sort in an upcoming film called “Moneyball.” Also acting in the film will be someone named Brad Pitt.
- In addition, a film called “Taking Woodstock,” featuring Demetri as the organizer of Woodstock, will be a part of the Cannes Film Festival lineup. If you follow that link you can watch a trailer, which looks quite promising!
The Writers and Friends of “The Daily Show” at Comix in NYC.
- April 29th at 8 PM. The lineup for isn’t available yet, but I can personally recommend this event as being great fun!
Lewis Black (contributor, The Daily Show) and Rob Riggle (former correspondent, The Daily Show)
I wanted to remind you all that Lewis Black and Rob Riggle are both on stand-up tours. You should follow the links above their tour schedules to see whether they will be appearing near you!
John Oliver (correspondent, The Daily Show)
Finally, if The Bugle is not enough John Oliver podcast action for you, you can hear him appearing on the BBC sport podcast “Fighting Talk“. Currently the “recent podcast” that is embedded within the page plays the episode including John, and it even works in the United States! I’ve listened to the entire thing, and while I admit I have almost no idea what they are talking about, John has some very amusing comments, as do the other guests. In addition, John seems to like to bring in some references to American sports (and even politics!)
“Also acting in the film will be someone named Brad Pitt.”
I love it! Hahaha!

I went to the Los Angeles Times Book Festival this weekend and I saw Larry Wilmore on a panel entitled “Humor & Race.” He was absolutely fabulous as was everyone else on the panel which included Tod Goldberg (moderator) and fellow panelists Lalo Alcaraz (creator of comic strip La Cucaracha) and Christian Lander (Stuff White People Like). It was one laughfest from beginning to end and everyone played off of each other so well, but Larry Wilmore was the sharpest of the bunch. My favorite line uttered by Larry Wilmore: “Colbert is just crazy. He breaths in oxygen and breaths out humor.”

It was a plug-in that’s not compatible with this template, unfortunately. :(

Does anyone has any idea if the Comix event with TDS writers is free???

It’s not. It’s a regularly scheduled gig that occurs once or twice a month; details should be at the linked site.

I was thrilled when I got to see the trailer for Taking Woodstock during an episode of Important Things with Demetri Martin and I’m already excited about seeing it! Check it out here!

Did anyone see the commercial that Sam Bee is in this weekend? I can’t remember exactly what she was selling, but it was somewhat funny.

I seem to have heard of her promoting a type of ranch dressing?

I saw the same one! I think it was for Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. Couldn’t find it on YouTube unfortunately.
