Monday, March 16.
Today he wears a black windowpane suit with a pale blue shirt and burgundy tie with a gold square pattern and barrel cuffs. For the BKAG rerun segment: a black suit complete with flag pin, an off-white shirt, and a sharp red and navy colored tie with a South Carolina palm tree pattern on it. Both classy and appropriate, as always!

Tuesday, March 17.
I sure was glad to see Stephen getting into the Saint Paddy’s Day spirit with a black pinstripe suit, an off-white shirt, and… the same hunter green and sky blue tie he wore on the 10th?! Well, I can’t blame him. It is a gorgeous tie.

- Very exciting news about going to the Persian Gulf!!!
- I love that top hat.
- Ooh! Monkey necklace!
- I spoke too soon. Let’s call it a monkey crown.
Wednesday, March 18.
Stephen wears a black pinstripe suit with a light blue shirt, a yellow-gold tie with square pattern, and french cuffs. What would you call that gold color? I can’t think of a good word!

- Wetsuit of Turin!
- PITCHFORK!! Nice and sharp.
- Mmm. Spandex.
- PATTERSON SPRINGS!!! That moustache! That dickie! Amazing.

Thursday, March 19.
Looking sharp in another black pinstripe suit, a navy, white, and red barber-pole-style striped tie, a white shirt, and french cuffs caps off this week.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- I shouted “Pinstripe Hoodie!” before he even said those words on the show. Pass da Mike.

Lovely! I love the monkey hat esp. It seems those in the know have pointed out that that is a hayfork, not a pitchfork. Pitchforks have much thicker tines. What do I know? I live in NYC. I guess if TCR were filmed nearer to farm country they would have noticed.

Love the Fangirl Suit Report graphic. Very nice! My favorite kind of suit of his is the pinstripe. And I adore French cuffs. Stephen always looks great. The hoodie and the monkey necklace/crown cracked me up no end.

He *was* absolutely adorable on The Today Show. And I loved all the added accessories this week – the pitchfork, the hoodie, the monkey necklace/hat…such fun!!
Also: Thursday’s tie was smokin’ hot. I actually said that out loud while we were watching the show and my brother gave me a weird look!
I really like his pinstripe but I’m not really sure what a windowpane suit is. Can someone explain that?

I didn’t know what a windowpane suit was either so I did a google search for examples. It looks like a windowpane suit has widely spaced pinstripes that run both horizonal and vertical. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong…

Another check option is windowpane, a much more bold option where the stripes forming the check are far apart, creating a checkerboard effect. Full windowpane suits are not frequently found anymore, though windowpane sports jackets may appear from time to time. A heavy dose of confidence and a certain amount of panache is required to carry off this kind of daring pattern.”

I actually know someone at work who shares these same qualities and wears windowpane suits.
However, I would ultimately vote for pinstripe over windowpane.

Mmm. That description really makes me want to reread some Wodehouse, specifically Jeeves & Wooster. I think Jeeves would approve of many of Stephen’s outfits (which is saying something), though he might add a pocket square or buttonhole flower occasionally. Thanks for sharing!

I thought Thursday’s tie stood out in an unusual way. Usually I don’t pay too much attention to the ties, but this one grabbed my attention. It seemed to be more flamboyant than usual.

Stephen wore Thursday’s tie on Ash Wednesday, February 25, 2009. I remember that night clearly because Stephen had a “Girls Gone Wild” moment in honor of Mardi Gras which was the night beforehand. I remember thinking how such a festive, bold tie suited the mood.

I gotta say, I’m a huge fan of pinstripe suits. I like it best when Stephen wears those. And the pinstripe suit/pinstripe hoodie combo was fantastic! A subtle windowpane pattern is really nice too though.

That yellow/marigold/deviled-egg yellow is my *favorite* shade of yellow and it looks fantastic on him. I thought Stephen was going to do “Formidable Opponent” on Thursday — doesn’t he usually wear that striped tie on nights when that segment is going to air?

the pinstripe hoodie was a true stroke of genius! I was dying laughing at that alone … then the rap-off was such hilarious + brilliant wordsmithing that I was completely undone.
though – I think the shirt on Thursday was something other than white – a pale yellow maybe? I didn’t like it. white would’ve looked better. but maybe my computer screen was making it look weird.
