Who’s Honoring Stephen Colbert Now (again)? The Time 100!

Stephen Colbert at the Time 100 - 2006

‘Tis the season for the Time 100 votes, and for the third year in a row, Stephen Colbert has been nominated in the voting segment of the Time 100 awards.

However, this year, it’s already turning out to be a very interesting contest. In the running, along with the normal assortment of celebrities, politicos, and philanthropists is a gentleman by the name of “moot“. “moot” is the founder of an image website called 4chan. Now most bloggers, most smart bloggers anyway, speak of 4chan the way that Stephen Colbert speaks of Muslims – 4chan is a great and true website, as revealed to “moot”, blessings and peace be upon him. Their community is strong, scary, and most of all deserves all the respect a webmaster who does not want her site hacked can muster.

“moot” is already in the lead with votes, placing #1 and garnering over 100,000 more votes than his nearest competitor, Jon Stewart.

I have no doubt that at some point in the near future, Stephen will sic the nation on the Time 100 site, but until then, we’ll give him our unsolicited support. And seriously, 4chan mob, please don’t hurt us. We only wish to praise Stephen Colbert and delight in the happiness of our fearless leader. Thank you.

Oh no! It looks like we will have to battle it out with Rain’s fans, the Clouds, again. Rain is now beating Stephen in the online poll. RAAAIIIINNN!!!!

Shout Out (Hey!): Thumb up 0

  2. ColbertGirl27 says:

Time argues that Stephen’s cameo in The Love Guru is the con. Ha! They just made a big mistake.

whew–with 4chan and the Clouds up against us, it’s unwinnable, especially now that the Clouds have all our hacks.

  4. If I only had one vote, I would have to give it to Jon Stewart… I think he has the momentum right now.
Please don’t hack me, fellow Colbert Completists! I voted for Colbert too.

    • added: I just looked over the Time 100 list, and I have to declare it one big joke, and a joke with very little hope of redemption. Most of the names are jokes (Britney Spears?), the ratings are laughable, and the winners will almost certainly be rigged/hacked by fanatics (Colbertists excepted).

Time needs to institute registration for votes, otherwise the whole exercise is a waste of time. (pun unintended)

Oh, god, it’s that time again?

I think I’ll be sitting the battle out this year. And the rest of forever.

I can go for some more voting…worth a few minutes of my Time everyday (forgive the pun) Besides, I’d be quite embarrassed to let Stephen get beaten by “The View.” It is kind of pathetic that America’s first black president is so far down the list >->

I still bust up when I think of the post on here telling that Rain’s fans are “clouds.” So corny. I met a Korean girl when I went to the inauguration and she told me all about Rain and how in Korea he’s called “Pi” or something. The “p” is somewhere between a “p” sound and a “b” sound, sort of a soft “p”, and since the Japanese can’t say it correctly, they just run around screaming “PEE PEE PEE!!”

  7. I think groups of people are voting Stephen down. His average rating this morning was 45 and now it’s down to 38. :(

  8. Kyoko says:

*gulps* I went to 4chan once… a friend gave me a link to an argument that took place between them and an acquaintance of ours… may she rest in peace.

Here’s hoping Jon and Stephen get 2nd and third, since I’m sure any day now moot’s will mysteriously go over 1 billion. And I highly doubt anyone is listening to anything Britney Spears says. Why is she on that list?

  9. Laaaura says:

How exactly does this work? Does Time pick 100 of the most influential people, and then this online voting thing is just extra influential people? I’m not sure I understand. Because that first year Stephen was part of it, wasn’t he actually chosen by Time and was on the cover, with no online voting involved? I just don’t get what the whole online voting thing is for. Like when Rain won the online voting poll last year, did they put him on the cover? I am clearly confused.

Either way, people are voting Stephen down, and it’s pissing me off more than it probably should. lol.
